Mark Armstrong and Seth Matthysse each had extra-inning RBI singles as the Paso Robles High baseball team outlasted San Luis Obispo, 6-4, in eight innings Friday in San Luis Obispo.
Jonathan Baldwin pitched 4 1⁄3 innings, earning the win in relief for the Bearcats (8-0, 3-0 PAC 8).
Matt Keller had a two-out RBI single in the second inning to open the scoring for Paso Robles, and scored on a single by Matt Stroud. In the third inning, the Bearcats scored from a Ben Mecham sacrifice fly and another Armstrong RBI single.
Atascadero 5, St. Joseph 3
Karson Block had two RBI, and Ty Townsend pitched 52⁄3 innings before Holden Nix earned the save for the Greyhounds (3-4, 1-2 PAC 8).
Arroyo Grande 4, Righetti 0
Jeff Fernandes pitched a complete-game shutout with five strikeouts as the Eagles (5-3, 3-0 PAC 8) kept their perfect league mark alive.
Ryan Teixeira went 2 for 4 with an RBI, and Brayden Pinkerton went 2 for 3 with a run.
Pioneer Valley 6, Mission Prep 1
The Royals (2-4-1, 0-3 PAC 8) lost to the Panthers at home, scoring its lone run on a bases-loaded walk.
Shandon 14, North County Christian 4, 5 innings
Frank Prebor was 2 for 2 with a double, and Seth Thompson hit a two-run single in the first inning for the Crusaders (0-1, 0-1 Coast Valley League), who were playing their first baseball game in three years.
Elijah Shively had seven strikeouts in just 1 1/3 innings — and five in the second inning alone — and Prebor struck out nine in 3 2⁄3 innings, as dropped third strikes and other errors hampered North County Christian.
In all, the Crusaders struck out 16 batters despite recording only 15 outs.
Coast Union 15, Maricopa 3, 5 innings
Freshman Chase Volz had seven strikeouts and allowed four hits from the mound in the win for the Broncos (3-7, 2-0 CVL).
Gehrig Kniffen went 2 for 2 with three RBI, and Will Stephenson had an RBI.
Paso Robles 8, San Luis Obispo 4
Becca Twyman had two RBI, and Jenna Rogers had a two-run double as well in the win for the Bearcats (6-2, 2-0 PAC 8) over the visiting Tigers.
Chloe Kerns went 2 for 2, and pitchers Rogers and Madison Romero combined for eight strikeouts.
Marissa Pyatt led San Luis Obispo (6-5, 0-2), going 3 for 4 with an RBI, two singles and a double.
Arroyo Grande 6, Righetti 2
Lexi Silva had a two-run double in the fifth inning as the Eagles (4-1) won their PAC 8 opener against visiting Righetti.
Casey Burger added an RBI, and Natalie Parrish doubled in a run while notching two strikeouts in seven innings on the mound before Julie Lewis came in to close the game.
Morro Bay 4, Santa Maria 1
Kendall Schemmer pitched a complete game with seven strikeouts and allowed one earned run.
Sarah Sandoval had three hits and a run, and Alyssa Noriega had two hits and an RBI for the Pirates (4-7-1, 3-1 LPL).
Nipomo 10, Templeton 1
Allyssa Ruelas and Saundra Renner both homered, and Bri Sa struck out nine in a complete-game performance for the Titans (5-4, 3-1 Los Padres League).
Ruelas finished 3 for 4 with three RBI, including her two-run homer, and Renner doubled in addition to her three-run home run.
Kamile Neel was 2 for 2 with two doubles and an RBI for Nipomo, and Vanessa Davis was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI.
Sydney Barlogio scored a run, and Kathleen Cline had an RBI double for the Eagles (2-5, 1-3).

Ellie Magnuson pitched a one-hit shutout and went 3 for 3 with a triple, a double and a single.
Maddy May was 2 for 3 with a triple, a single and three RBI, and Ashley Martinez had two doubles and three runs for the Broncos (4-6, 2-0 CVL).
Cate 11, Arroyo Grande 7
The doubles team of Patrick Angle and Parker Turner won two of three sets, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4, but the Eagles (8-5) couldn’t pull out a win over host Cate in Carpinteria.
Joseph Goryance and Tyler Tencati also won two of three, 7-5, 6-1, 4-6, for the Eagles in the loss.
SWIMMING AND DIVING
Boys: Morro Bay 116, Santa Maria 54; Girls: Morro Bay 183, Santa Maria 17
Jack Krull led the Morro Bay boys side (4-0) with wins in the 100-yard freestyle in 52.49 seconds and the 100 breaststroke in 1:09.95. Lucas Jakovich also had a win in the 200 individual medley in 2:32.82.
For the girls side, Asten Bryant won the 200 IM in 2:38.66 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:18.90, and Olivia MacDonald notched wins in the 100 freestyle (1:03.30) and the 100 backstroke (1:11.30). Christina Hampp also won the 50 freestyle for the Pirates (3-1) in 30.45.
