Prep Roundup: Paso Robles remains perfect in baseball

Bailey Gaither and Will Stroud each went 2 for 4 with an RBI as the Paso Robles High baseball team stayed undefeated with an 8-1 road win over Atascadero on Wednesday.

Ben Mecham also had an RBI double for the Bearcats (7-0, 2-0 PAC 8). Jeff Neumann allowed one run and three hits on the mound for Paso Robles.

Holden Nix scored on a fielder’s choice to give the Greyhounds their only run. Dusty White pitched 42⁄3 innings in relief for Atascadero (2-5, 0-2), with five strikeouts.

Righetti 10, San Luis Obispo 5

Jacob Rodgers had three RBI and Brooks Hollister had an RBI double for the Tigers (5-2, 1-1 PAC 8).

San Luis Obispo took a 3-0 run in the first inning, but Righetti scored two runs in the third inning and seven runs in the fourth to pull away.

Arroyo Grande 1, Mission Prep 0

Ryan Teixeira scored on a bases-loaded double play for the Eagles (4-3, 2-0 PAC 8).

Morgan Smith pitched a complete game for Arroyo Grande, allowing two hits and no walks.


Templeton 14, Cabrillo 4

Jared Hall won 6-0, 6-0, 6-0 in singles, and Chaz Darrow also swept for the Eagles (5-4, 4-2 Los Padres League).

The doubles team of Nelson Bernal and Tyler Bedout combined to win 6-4, 6-4, 6-2.


Boys: Arroyo Grande 86, Paso Robles 50; Girls: Arroyo Grande 86, Paso Robles 48

Josephine Graeber won the girls long jump with a leap of 17 feet, 0 inches, and won the triple jump at 34-4 for Arroyo Grande.

Jamie Walsh won the high jump at 5-3 for the Eagles, and Dresden Smith won the 100-meter hurdles in 16.7 seconds.

Codie Wilshusen won the girls pole vault at 10-6 for Paso Robles, and Maddi Moore won the 400 in 1 minute, 1 second.

On the boys side, Eddie Chagoya won the discus (151-5) and Matt Sill won the triple jump (38-9) for Arroyo Grande. Drew Breuninger won the shot put for the Eagles with 46-1.

Ty Jones won the 100 and the 200 for Paso Robles.

Boys: San Luis Obispo 113, Atascadero 23; Girls: San Luis Obispo 75, Atascadero 61

Dylan Smith won the boys 110-meter hurdles in 15.6 seconds for the Tigers (2-0) before also taking first in the 300 hurdles in 44.0.

San Luis Obispo’s Andrew Toh won the boys 100 in 11.0 and teamed with Ray Smith, Nate Greenelsh and Pricer Hitchcock to win the 4x100 relay. Greenelsh won the 200 in 22.4 and joined Ray Smith, Dylan Archer and Ethan McSwain to win the 4x400 relay in 3:33.2.

David Chellsen won the boys discus with a throw of 142 feet, 10 inches, and the shot put in 46-10 for San Luis Obispo.

Daniel Toll won the 3,200 in 9:57, and Josh Lambert won the triple jump with a 40-5 total for Atascadero.

On the girls side, freshman Sarah Attala won the 100 hurdles (18.5) and the 300 hurdles (48.4) for the Tigers. Teammate Shaina Morris won the long jump at 16-4 and was part of the winning 4x400 relay team.

Brittany McKinley won the girls 100 in 12.31 and the 200 (26.34) to lead Atascadero.

Los Padres League quad meet

Morro Bay, Nipomo and Cabrillo traveled to Santa Ynez for an LPL quad meet, and team scores were not available by deadline.

Andrew Stafford won the boys 3,200-meter race in 4:28 seconds, for Morro Bay. Teammate Brandon Amato won the 800 in 2:02.

Sierra Emrick set a personal best in the girls pole vault with a winning height of 12 feet, 3 inches for the Pirates. Teammate Shannon McClish won the 3,200 in 12:05.
