A run to the CIF-Southern Section championship game for the boys team and a quarterfinal appearance for the girls squad led to three Mission Prep players being named to their respective all-Southern Section divisional teams Monday.
Senior guards Quinton Adlesh and Brandon Jones landed on the Division 4AA list for boys basketball, while senior Taylor Neal was selected for the Division 5AA girls hoops team.
Adlesh’s inclusion on the list comes with little surprise, as the Columbia commit poured in point totals of 44, 22 and 25 in the final three rounds for the Royals.
Jones, who has been in contact with colleges at the Division II and III levels, scored in double figures in three of five divisional playoffs games — including a game-high 26 in an opening-round win over San Marino — and was tasked with guarding the opposing team’s best guard on a nightly basis.
Neal reached double figures in scoring in all three playoff games for the Royals, including a game-high 13 in Mission Prep’s 52-42 quarterfinal loss to Aquinas.
No other San Luis Obispo County players were honored. Righetti’s Cameron Walker, St. Joseph’s JoJo Walker, Lompoc’s Rylee Sager and Cabrillo’s Devan McCune also were named to their respective all-Southern Section teams.
Dos Pueblos 9 (89), San Luis Obispo 9 (79)
The doubles team of Alex Dill and Pablo Caminada swept its sets 6-4, 6-2, 6-2, as the Tigers were edged by Division 1 Dos Pueblos.
San Luis Obispo (9-3) won seven of nine doubles sets, as the tandem of Adie Alwen and Cameron Dong won 6-4 and 6-3 before falling in a tiebreaker to Dos Pueblos’ top doubles team 7-6 (7-3). Chase Braun and Elijah Selman teamed up to go 7-5, 6-3, 4-6.
Paso Robles 419, Sierra Pacific 532
Greg Potruch was the medalist at Hunter Ranch with a 6-over 78 for the Bearcats.
Bailey Flickinger added a 79, and Logan Elliott shot an 82.
Nipomo 211, Morro Bay 290
Adam Burrola shot a 1-over 37 on the front nine at Monarch Dunes to lead the undefeated Titans (6-0).
