The Arroyo Grande High girls tennis team beat La Reina 12-6 in the CIF-Southern Section Division 2 playoffs Friday afternoon in Thousand Oaks as Sophie Whittle dropped just one game, winning 6-0, 6-1, 6-0 in her singles sets.
The Eagles’ Melina Rodgers played her first singles match this year and swept 6-1, 6-3, 6-0, while Jillian Burns won 6-2, 2-6, 6-3.
In doubles, Angelica Gagliano and Olivia Madison swept 6-2, 6-3, 6-3, while the teams of Hannah Angle and Mary Waterman, and Elizabeth Michniuk and Lekayla Landers each won a set for Arroyo Grande (22-4).
The Eagles will play top-seeded Valencia at 1 p.m. Monday in Arroyo Grande.

Ryan Svercheck, Conner Sandman, and Hunter Roberts had two goals apiece, but Arroyo Grande lost 12-7 to Righetti in the championship game.
Ronan Paulsen had 10 saves for the Eagles (14-11).
“I’m really happy with how our boys played, Righetti just pulled away at the end,” Arroyo Grande coach Steven Allen said.
In the third-place match, San Luis Obispo’s goalie Connor Troy made a game-winning save with three seconds remaining in the Tigers’ 12-11 win over Atascadero.
Emerson Trout scored nine goals for the Tigers (19-6, 5-3), who rallied from a 6-4 deficit at halftime for the win. Troy finished with 10 saves.
CIF-Southern Section playoff pairings
In Division 2AA, Atascadero will host Simi Valley on Tuesday in the first round, while Arroyo Grande plays Heritage Christian at home at 6:30 p.m. as the pairings were announced by the CIF-Southern Section.
San Luis Obispo is on the road against Downey at 5 p.m., while Mission Prep is at Mayfield at 6 p.m.
In Division 3A, Templeton is the No. 2 seed and opens at home against Rosemead while Morro Bay is on the road against San Dimas.
In Division 5AA, Coast Union is at home against Riverside Christian at 6 p.m., while Coastal Christian is on the road against Glendale Adventist. North County Christian has a first-round bye.
All games begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday unless otherwise noted.
