Prep Roundup: Morro Bay falls in boys water polo match

Ryan Kitzman scored four goals, but it was not enough to lift the Morro Bay High boys water polo team on the road Wednesday as the Pirates fell 7-6 in a back-and-forth match with Cabrillo.

The loss dropped the Pirates (9-13, 3-2 Los Padres League) to third in the league behind the Conquistadors and Santa Ynez heading into the LPL tournament.

Travis Chirman scored twice for Morro Bay, and Jack Krull made eight saves.

Coast Union volleyball falls

Coast Union traveled to Dunn for a nonleague match and came away on the losing end of a closely contested five-set girls volleyball match, falling 25-27, 25-20, 14-25, 25-22, 15-10.

Janel Bohey had nine kills to lead Coast Union (11-6), and Gigi Stoothoff had eight kills and three aces.

Patty Bucio had 16 digs, while Sage Radecki dished out 38 assists to go along with three aces.
