PREP ROUNDUP: Nipomo wraps up undefeated LPL girls golf season

The Nipomo High girls golf team shot a 228 to cap an undefeated season by winning the Los Padres League finals at Marshalia Ranch at Vandenberg Air Force Base on Thursday as Cynthia Navis set a school record with a 2-under 34 to win the individual championship.

The Titans qualified for the first round of CIF-Southern Section team competition at Soule Park in Ojai next Thursday. 2013 league champion Erin Shusterich shot a 38, and Brooke Cuzick shot a 49.

Morro Bay finished fifth with 282 strokes as Lily Keogh shot a 50.

Navis, Shusterich, Cuzick and Keogh all qualified for Southern Section individual competition Monday at River Ridge Golf Course in Ventura.


Arroyo Grande 3, Paso Robles 0

Emily Sonny had eight kills and 15 digs as the Eagles won 25-13, 25-7, 25-9.

Ashlyn Herlihy added nine kills, while Alaina Hogeboom had 35 assists and Kacee Fox had six aces and 19 digs for Arroyo Grande (20-3, 10-0 PAC 8).

Kiara Gable had nine digs and four kills, and Riley Austin had 12 digs for Paso Robles (11-11, 3-8).

San Luis Obispo 3, Pioneer Valley 0

The Tigers swept Pioneer Valley 25-11, 25-8, 25-18.

CeCe Devaney had seven kills, and Merissa Brancart handed out 16 assists. Paige Cohune had eight digs for the San Luis Obispo (19-6, 9-2 PAC 8).

Atascadero 3, Righetti 0

Katherine Sedley had nine kills, and Hanna Reece had eight kills to lead Atascadero to a 25-9, 25-14, 25-13 victory.

Brooke Harbottle had 29 assists, and Sabrina Degnan added 11 digs for the Greyhounds (15-10, 9-2 PAC 8).

Mission Prep 3, St. Joseph 0

The Royals won 25-17, 25-20, 25-21 on the road.

Jennifer Laird led Mission Prep with 15 digs and six kills, and Madison Boncich added six kills.

Noelle Laird also had six kills for the Royals (8-4, 6-4 PAC 8), and Eleri Perryman distributed 16 assists.

Morro Bay 3, Nipomo 0

Sierra Emrick had 11 kills, eight digs and five blocks as the Pirates won 25-13, 25-9, 25-19. Jade Tirado added 18 assists and four digs for Morro Bay (9-5, 8-3 LPL).

Templeton 3, Santa Maria 0

Julie Cates had seven kills and five aces to lead Templeton to a 25-8, 25-7, 25-8 victory. Josie Kelly had 26 assists, and Hannah McRoy added 15 assists and six digs for the Eagles (14-1, 11-0 LPL). Lauren Ralston and Emily Burns added seven kills apiece.

North County Christian 3, Coast Union 0

The Crusaders swept visiting Coast Union 25-16, 25-20, 26-24.

Aliyah Morrison had 18 kills and nine digs, and Madison Morrison added 15 kills and nine digs. Gabrielle Morrison registered 28 assists and seven digs for North County Christian (18-7, 8-1 Coast Valley League).

Janel Bohey had 10 digs and six kills for Coast Union (11-5, 9-1). Sage Radecki had 23 assists, Reagan Kniffen had 10 digs, and Olivia Zamora had six kills for the Broncos.

Coastal Christian 3, Valley Christian Acad. 0

Roni Garrison had 39 digs and five kills to lead Coastal Christian to a 25-17, 25-23, 25-20 win.

Audrey Berdar had nine assists, and Delaney Springer added five kills for the Conquerors (5-6, 5-5 CVL).

Maricopa 3, Shandon 0

The Broncos lost 25-15, 25-18, 25-8 on the road.


Arroyo Grande 16, Atascadero 2

The doubles team of Melina Rodgers and Mekayla Landers won 6-4, 6-3, 6-0 for Arroyo Grande (19-4, 13-0 PAC 8).

The tandem of Angelica Gagliano and Olivia Madison won 6-1, 6-0, 6-1.

Nicoline Breytenbach won two sets for Atascadero (14-7, 8-5).

Paso Robles 18, Pioneer Valley 0

Lindsey Horst and Katie Evenson didn’t drop a game in singles play, while the doubles team of Sara Torres and Ronnesha Nunez won 6-4, 6-0, 6-0 for the Bearcats (10-7, 6-7 PAC 8).

San Luis Obispo 12, St. Joseph 6

The doubles team of Anna Lippold and Caroline Burke swept 6-1, 6-0, 6-1 for San Luis Obispo (14-4, 11-2 PAC 8).

Fiona Huffaker and Maddie Handy won their doubles matches 6-4, 6-2, 6-4.

McKenzie Berkshire won her singles sets 6-2, 6-0 for the Tigers, and Jenny Zakaria won her singles sets 6-4, 7-5.

Righetti 18, Mission Prep 0

Toni Walsh won four games in singles play while the doubles teams of Nina Fairchild and Sawyer Smith and Maggie Spear and Maggie Ma won four games each for the Royals (0-13 PAC 8).

Nipomo 11, Santa Maria 7

The doubles team of Julia Johnson and Nicole Johnson led the Titans, winning 6-3, 6-0, 6-0.

Sydney Roberts (4-6, 6-3, 6-1) and Nyessa Perez (4-6, 6-2, 6-2) each took two of three sets in singles for Nipomo (4-12, 2-11 LPL).

Cabrillo 13, Templeton 5

Mili Proft swept 6-1, 6-0, 6-0, while the doubles team of Lauren Shin and Kiley Keohen took two out of three sets in a home loss for the Eagles (6-11, 5-8 LPL).
