Prep Roundup: Templeton knocked out of boys volleyball playoffs

Henri Cherry had 19 kills, and Michael Lahargou had 32 assists as the Templeton High boys volleyball team lost to Santa Fe 3-0 in the second round of the CIF-Southern Section Division 4 playoffs at Templeton on Thursday night.

The Eagles lost 27-25, 25-21, 25-23 as Cherry and Lahargou combined for the teams only two blocks and six of the eight digs.


Pioneer Valley 11, Atascadero 7

Atascadero finished 10-2 and in second place in the PAC 7. No other information was provided.

Paso Robles 19, St. Joseph 2, 5 innings

Lacey Morris pitched five innings with 11 strikeouts and two walks, and Chloe Kerns was 2 for 2 with three RBI, including a two-run home run, to lead the Bearcats.

Paso Robles (14-11, 8-4 PAC 7) broke the game open in the fourth inning, scoring 13 runs in the frame.

Righetti 15, San Luis Obispo 0, 5 innings

Samantha Good doubled, and Hannah Murphy and Janae Caldera singled to account for the Tigers’ (9-18, 2-10 PAC 7) three hits of the game.

Coast Union 6, Valley Christian Academy 1

Ellie Magnuson pitched a complete game with two strikeouts and three hits, and Ashley Martinez had two hits and three RBI to clinch the Coast Valley League title for the Broncos.

Both Maddie May and Cynthia Cadeno were both 2 for 3 with a double for Coast Union (11-4-1, 8-0).


Atascadero 9, Righetti 7

Four different Greyhounds drove in two runs, including a two-run triple by Joe Johnson, as Atascadero (7-20, 4-14 PAC 7) won its season finale on the road.

Johnson finished 4 for 5 with a pair of doubles to go along with his triple. Sam Neely, who committed to play at Trinity University in San Antonio, hit a solo home run and also doubled in a run.

Tyler Moore and Zach Austin both drove in a pair of runs as well, and Allen Hurst recorded the final RBI.

Austin got the win on the mound, pitching 5 1⁄3 innings, and Holden Nix threw 12⁄3 of one-hit innings to get the save.

Coast Union 5, Valley Christian Academy 2

Grant Magnuson pitched a complete game with 10 strikeouts and four hits and added two doubles and an RBI to clinch the Coast Valley League title for the Broncos.

Emmany Godinez added two singles, and Gehrig Kniffen was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI for Coast Union (15-4, 10-0).


CIF-Southern Section Division 3

Morro Bay’s Alissa Marvin finished 10th in the girls 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1 minute, 2.94 seconds in Riverside.
