On its home court, the Arroyo Grande High girls basketball team upset league-leading Pioneer Valley 35-32 on Wednesday night, handing the Panthers their first loss in nine PAC 7 games.
The Eagles (9-13, 4-5 PAC 7) had a seven-point lead with two minutes to go, but the Panthers narrowed the deficit to three in the finals seconds. Arroyo Grande turned the ball over on an inbound pass, but Pioneer Valley’s shot to tie fell short.
Meghan Smith and Maggie Bayer were the Eagles’ leading scorers with seven points apiece, and Ashlyn Herlihy had five points and 10 rebounds.

Mari Stewart had a game-high 23 points to go along with 15 rebounds as she shot 12 of 15 from the field for the Eagles (19-2, 9-0 Los Padres League).
Marissa Torres had 17 points, including five 3-pointers, in addition to six assists.
Atascadero 49, Paso Robles 29
Sabrina Degnan led the Greyhounds with 17 points and 11 rebounds in their road win over the rival Bearcats.
Maddie Leong added 13 points for Atascadero (14-7, 5-3 PAC 7).
Alyssa Miller led the Bearcats (1-26, 0-9 PAC 7) with a career-high nine points.
Morro Bay 49, Santa Maria 19
Kara Schmidt scored a game-high 13 points to lead a balanced attack for the
Pirates (16-2, 9-1 LPL).
Julia Fonturbel had 10 points and six rebounds, and Sierra Schwellenbach chipped in 10 points for Morro Bay, which led 25-7 at halftime and held the Saints to seven field goals.
Atascadero 63, Paso Robles 54
Robbie Berwick led the Greyhounds to a 15-point fourth quarter lead, scoring a game-high 26 points.
The Bearcats, led by Jaylon Davis’ 18 points, scored 21 points in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough to stop Atascadero from winning its 12th straight game.
Jared Stuedemann had 14 points, and Joe Johnson had 10 for the Greyhounds (18-2, 9-0 PAC 7).
Anthony Spencer had 15 points for Paso Robles (10-12, 2-7).
Lompoc 64, Nipomo 60
The Titans led by two points at halftime, but were outscored 21-12 in the third.
Freddy Ruiz led Nipomo (4-16, 2-7 LPL) with 19 points, and Trevor Small had 10 points and seven assists.
Arroyo Grande 60, Pioneer Valley 50
Andrew Midyett scored 13 points and had nine rebounds to lead the Eagles past the Panthers.
After a tight first quarter, Arroyo Grande (17-7, 7-2 PAC 7) outscored Pioneer Valley by 10 points in the second.
Cobe Williams had 11 points, and Carson Wack and Kevin Ikeda both had nine points and five assists.

Josh Wilkins netted the first goal for the Eagles (13-4-2, 8-1 PAC 7), who moved into sole possession of first place in the league.
Hosanna Cassidy and Miguel Fregoso also scored for Arroyo Grande.

Justin Boyd scored in the 95th minute to lead the Greyhounds past the Bearcats.
David Hernandez recorded eight saves for Atascadero (8-12-1, 2-6 PAC 7).

Brie Welch scored twice for the Eagles (12-4-4, 6-0-3 PAC 7), and Richelle Knupper had an assist.
Sarah Doughty played the second half and had four saves for Arroyo Grande, and Kendall Bowers made one save in the first half.

Morro Bay 13, Santa Maria 11
Naomi Wilson and Katie White both scored four goals to lead the Pirates (2-9, 1-3 LPL) to their first league win of the season.
Morro Bay also got goals from Tori White, Sophie Nelson, Sophia Gardner, Miranda Galindo and Cassidy Machado.
Taryn Nunes made six saves.
