Prep Roundup: Nipomo downs Templeton in girls soccer

Myra Bautista scored with 3:30 left in the second overtime period to give the Nipomo High girls soccer team a 2-1 victory over Templeton on Tuesday.

Bautista tallied both goals for the Titans (4-6-2, 1-1-1 Los Padres League), including the game-tying goal with less than two minutes remaining in regulation. 

Templeton’s lone goal was deflected off Nipomo keeper Julisa Soto into the back of the net. The Titans put Yocelyn Lopez in goal for the second half, and she recorded one save. 

Santa Ynez 5, Morro Bay 0

Goalkeeper Madelynn Martinez recorded 15 saves in the loss for Morro Bay (5-7-2, 1-1-1 LPL). 


Santa Ynez 4, Morro Bay 0

Santa Ynez scored its first two goals in the first 10 minutes.     

Oscar Loeza had eight saves for Morro Bay (1-2 LPL). 

Templeton 4, Nipomo 1

Jeffrey Hammond scored once in each half to lead the Eagles (5-6, 2-1 LPL) to the win over the Titans.

Matt Jangaard opened the scoring for Templeton in the 19th minute and also assisted on Matt Mosher’s second-half goal. Nick Wilcox and Austin Alercon picked up assists for the Eagles.

Templeton goalkeeper Yusuke Yokota made six saves.


Coast Union 68, Maricopa 12

Angel Avina led the Broncos with 23 points, five assists and eight steals in their rout of the Indians.  

Gehrig Kniffen had 18 points, six assists and three rebounds, and Logan Brandt grabbed 11 boards for Coast Union (8-6, 2-0 Coast Valley League). 

The Broncos shot 46 percent from the field and 44 percent from the free-throw line.  

Mission Prep 66, Trinity 21

Eleven players registered at least two points as the Royals (10-4) dispatched Australia’s Trinity with ease.

Quinton Adlesh scored a game-high 17 points, including five first-quarter 3-pointers, and had four assists.

Kyle Stewart had six points and eight rebounds for Mission Prep, which led 44-7 at halftime.


Arroyo Grande 17, Pioneer Valley 3

Sarah Parson scored twice, and 15 other Eagles recorded a goal. 

Alana Benson had four saves, and Arden Taylor had one in goal for Arroyo Grande (7-3, 3-0 PAC 7). 

Righetti 9, Paso Robles 2

Shannon Rees and Lauren Reed both scored for the Bearcats.

Kelsey Lewis had 11 saves for Paso Robles (3-5, 1-2 PAC 7). 

St. Joseph 11, San Luis Obispo 9

Addie Foster and Julia Donath both recorded three goals for the Tigers (3-3, 1-1 PAC 7). 

Emily Lovato scored twice, and Shelby Faccinto also tallied a goal for San Luis Obispo, which trailed 8-4 at halftime.

Anna Mullen made eight saves.


Coast Union 42, Maricopa 39 

The Broncos (1-1 CVL) forced 19 turnovers, and all seven players scored in their first win of the season. 

Ahtziri Mora led Coast Union with 13 points, and Bianca Chavez had nine.
