The Arroyo Grande High girls tennis team begins its CIF-Southern Section Division 3 playoff run Wednesday as the top-seed in the division.
The Eagles (16-1) will face the winner of a wild-card match to be played today between Pacifica of Oxnard and Oak Park.
Arroyo Grande, the winner of the PAC 7 league title at 12-0, will play at home at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
Arroyo Grande was the runner-up in last year’s division final, losing 10-8 to Laguna Hills.

San Luis Obispo (15-5), the PAC 7’s second-place team, also will play at home Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Division 3 against San Gabriel (12-5), which placed second in the Almont League. The Tigers were 10-2 in the PAC 7.
Paso Robles (9-8-1) will play on the road against Upland (9-12) today at 2 p.m. in the Division 3 wild-card round. The Bearcats were the fourth place team in the PAC 7 at 5-7.
In Division 4, Templeton (8-9) will play on the road at Highland today at 2 p.m. in a wild-card match. Highland is the secondplace team in the Golden League.
Templeton was the Los Padres League’s fourth place team at 5-7.
Coast Union seeded second in 8-man playoffs
Coast Union will begin the CIF-Southern Section Division 1 playoffs in 8-man football Friday night at home against Concordia of Sylmar.
The Broncos (8-1), an independent team, are seeded second in Division 1 and ranked second in this week’s Southern Section poll.
Concordia (6-3) was tied for first at 2-1 in the Omega League.
According to a Southern Section news release, the game will start at 7:30 p.m. unless another time is mutually agreed upon.
More football rankings
Three local teams remain in the CIF-Southern Section Northern Division’s football rankings this week.
Atascadero (7-2, 5-0 PAC 7) was ranked third after its 28-7 win over San Luis Obispo. Paso Robles (7-2, 4-1 PAC 7) is ranked eighth after beating Arroyo Grande (6-3, 3-2 PAC 7) 20-10. And Arroyo Grande dropped to ninth, falling from its sixth-place slot last week.
Mission Prep (8-1) maintained its position atop the Northeast Division, which it has held for all but one week of the season, after its 38-22 win over St. Margaret’s, which had been the top-ranked team in the
East Valley Division. St. Margaret’s dropped to second this week. Morro Bay (6-3, 4-1 Los Padres League) is the ninth ranked team in the Western Division after a 42-28 win over Santa Maria.
Lompoc 3, Mission Prep 2
The Royals closed out their regular season with a 25-23, 16-25, 25-19, 23-25, 17-15 loss to Lompoc that likely ended their postseason hopes.
Mission Prep is 13-4 and its 76.5 percent winning percentage is under the minimum requirement of 80 percent needed for an independent team to receive CIF-Southern Section playoff consideration.
The CIF-Southern Section playoff pairings will be announced Saturday.
In Monday’s match for Mission Prep, Rachel Hindmarsh had 15 kills, Tessa Boone had 11 kills, and Catherine Ikeda handed out 39 assists.
