Prep Roundup: San Luis Obispo, Arroyo Grande shine at Salinas track meet

Connor Hall won the pole vault to help the San Luis Obispo High boys track and field team to the team title at the Bill Kearney Invitational in Salinas on Saturday.

The Tigers won with 93 points as a team. Salinas was second with 90.

Hall cleared 16 feet in the pole vault and was also a member of San Luis Obispo’s first-place 400-meter relay team, which won in 43.59 seconds.

The Tigers girls also placed first in the meet, sharing the team title with Arroyo Grande at 80 points.

Kelsey Harper won the triple jump at 35-0 and the 300 hurdles in 46.68 seconds for San Luis Obispo, Ariel Becker added a win in the long jump at 17-1, and Mary Andino won the discus at 125-4 for the Tigers

The Arroyo Grande girls 1,600 relay team  of Demi Wack, Nicole Pitman, Christine Moreno and Jade Fuller set a meet record, winning in 4:04.2.

Elizabeth Heyde won the 800 in 2:17.2, and Jocelyn Reynolds won the 3,200 in 11.38.4.

Elijah Holt paced the Arroyo Grande boys, winning the 110 hurdles in 14.35 seconds.

Jonathon Corley (4:28.9) and Blake Maule (4:30.2) placed second and third, respectively, in the 1,600 for the Eagles boys.

For Paso Robles, Ben Nagengast won the boys discus at 157-0. Matt Kwiatkowski won the 3,200 for the Bearcats, but the official time had not been reported at press time.

Sammie Anderson won the girls 100 in 12.74, and Madison Moore won the girls 400 in 59.8 for Paso Robles.

Arroyo Grande at Mount SAC Relays

Madison Jacobs threw a personal record 156-7, good for second place in the girls discus for Arroyo Grande.

Jacobs took fourth in the shot put with a distance of 44-6.

Alex Mero won the seeded high jump at 5-4 for the Eagles.


San Luis Obispo Dive Invitational

Amanda Gritzfeld of Paso Robles won the girls event with 371.05 points in 11 dives. 

Tiana Pasko of Orcutt Academy took third with 326.9 points, and Jamie Staph of San Luis Obispo finished third with 320.5.

San Luis Obispo’s Blake Griffith won the boys event with a total of 463.95 points in 11 dives. 

Grant Britton of Paso Robles took second with 395.2 points, Mitchell Snyder of Arroyo Grande finished third with 323.8, and Keenan Harris finished fourth for Paso Robles. 


Clovis West Invitational

Corryn Haynes placed fifth in the girls 200-yard individual medley with a PR of 2:15.92 for Arroyo Grande, as its girls team placed 11th at the meet.

Haynes finished fourth in the 100 backstroke with a season best 1:01.90.

Santa Barbara County Meet

The Righetti girls won the team title with 574 points. Mission Prep was fourth with 237, and Nipomo fifth with 187.

Nipomo’s Rebecca Gonzalez placed fourth in the 100 breaststroke in 1:18.00.

Nipomo’s Austin Simpson took second in the boys 200 individual medley in 2:16.2 and third in the 200 freestyle at 1:57.6.

The Greyhounds split two games at the Steinbeck Classis in Salinas.
