Prep Roundup: Arroyo Grande and Nipomo athletes receive Southern Section honors

Four local athletes, three of whom play for Arroyo Grande High, have been named to all-CIF Southern Section teams, which were announced Monday.

Alexis Elias and goalie Hannah Wadlow were named to the Division 3 girls water polo team for the Eagles, who advanced to the Southern Section semifinals this past season.

Hannah Chandless, a midfielder for Arroyo Grande’s girls soccer team, was named to the all-Division 3 team as well.

Nipomo forward Caleb Doane was named to the Division 3 boys soccer team.


Paso Robles 449, Mission Prep 554

Connor Herrera shot an 87 on the par-72 course at Hunter Ranch Golf Course to medal for the Bearcats.

Tyler King shot an 89, and Greg Potruch and Ben Elisarraraz each shot 90s for Paso Robles.

Marcel Grangien had a 99 for the Royals.

Righetti 417, Atascadero 413

Justin Roxbrough and Tristan Ioppini each carded a 7-over 79 for the Greyhounds (1-1 PAC 7), but it wasn’t enough as they fell at Rancho Maria Golf Course.

Nick Zimkowski shot a 76 to medal for Righetti.

Nipomo 203, Santa Maria 259

Adam Burrola and Nick Magness each shot a 3-over 39 to medal for the Titans on the front nine at Monarch Dunes Golf Club.

Jacob Camacho and D.J. Llorente-Blankenburg each carded a 41, and Keenan Camacho added a 43 for Nipomo (3-2, 2-1 Los Padres League).

Morro Bay 262, Orcutt Academy 270

Robby Donaldson shot a 46 on the par-36 front nine at Rancho Maria Golf Course to medal for the Pirates.

Isaac Williams shot a 49 and Noah Martinez added a 53 for Morro Bay (4-8).


Righetti 3, Mission Prep 1

The Royals fell 25-21, 26-24, 21-25, 25-20 in Santa Maria.

Both Matt Souchek and Jack Mooney recorded 10 kills, three aces and two blocks for the Royals, and Sean O’Conner added 31 assists, three blocks and three digs for Mission Prep (2-3).


Laguna Blanca 18, Coast Union 0

The Broncos fell to 0-6 with the loss on the road.
