Prep Roundup: Arroyo Grande's boys basketball season ends with loss to Westlake

The Arroyo Grande High boys basketball team fell in the first round of the CIF Division 2 state playoffs Wednesday, losing at Westlake 72-45.

The Eagles finish their season at 22-9.

Cobe Williams paced Arroyo Grande with 13 points. Matt Willkomm added 12, and Desean Scott had seven points and seven rebounds for the Eagles.

Arroyo Grande trailed 16-15 after the first quarter, and was within three points late in the second before a buzzer-beating 3-pointers from Jason Blumhardt gave the Warriors a 34-28 advantage at the half.

It was all Westlake (27-5) after halftime. The Warriors scored more in the third quarter (19) than the Eagles managed in the entire second half (17).

Grant Lozoya led Westlake with 26 points. Blumhardt added 11.

Andrew Midyett had six points and three rebounds for the Eagles.


Dos Pueblos 12, San Luis Obispo 6

Mason Hansen won 6-0, 6-0, 4-6 in singles in the loss for the Tigers.

Brooks Rossi also won two singles sets for San Luis Obispo (3-1), winning 6-1, 6-4 and losing 6-1.


San Luis Obispo 392, Righetti 421

Grady Smith shot a 2-over 74 at Rancho Maria Golf Course to medal for the Tigers.

Adam Zakaria was a shot back at 75, and Kush Sikand and Michael Zakaria carded an 80 apiece.

Branden Pita led the Warriors with a 79.


St. Joseph 3, Nipomo 1

Despite taking the first set, the Titans fell 20-25, 25-20, 25-19, 25-17 at home.

Brandon Buchon had seven kills, Tyler Moore had six and Luke Buchanon had five for Nipomo (1-3).

Scott Gaddis added four kills and four blocks, and Alex Martinez had 23 assists for the Titans.
