Reynolds strikes out 16 in San Luis Obispo's softball win over Morro Bay

Andrea Reynolds led the San Luis Obispo High softball team past Morro Bay 2-0 on Tuesday, striking out 16 in a four-hit complete game in Morro Bay.

Reynolds also drove in Erica Chandler for the game-winning run on an RBI double in the top of the first inning, giving herself all the support she would need before even entering the circle.

Chandler was 3 for 4 with a double and a run scored for the Tigers (3-0).

Alexis Spence was 2 for 3 with a run scored on an RBI single from Samantha Good in the seventh inning.

Marissa Tabares gave up six hits and struck out nine in a complete-game loss for the Pirates (0-5).

Nipomo 2, Paso Robles 1

Courtney Cuzick pitched seven innings for the Titans, allowing four hits and one run in the complete-game win.

Cuzick and Ashley Ruiz both scored runs for Nipomo (3-0). Ruiz was 2 for 3, and teammate Candace Fryckman was 2 for 2 with an RBI double.

Atascadero 12, Templeton 1

The Greyhounds (3-0) had 13 hits and no errors as they defeated the Eagles in Templeton. 

Winning pitcher Kaala Wood went three innings, striking out five and allowing one run on three hits. 

Mckenzi Etchison was 1 for 3 with a home run in the second inning, Nique Mack hit a double and a triple, walked once and scored three runs, and teammate Keara Blodget was 3 for 4 with two RBI for Atascadero.

Jessica Rouse was 3 for 4 with a double and a triple and two RBI, and MacKenzie Messina was 2 for 2 with five RBI for the Greyhounds.

Lompoc 7, Arroyo Grande 1

Dominique Henderson struck out two over three scoreless innings of relief, but it was too little, too late as the Eagles (2-3) fell in Lompoc.

Jessie Robinson had a triple for the only extra-base hit for Arroyo Grande.

Coast Union 17, Mission Prep 2, 5 innings

Ellie Magneson struck out seven, gave up two hits and a walk in four scoreless innings in the win for the Broncos (1-2).

Sage Radecki was 2 for 4 with a three-run home run in the top of the fourth inning and Patty Bucio was 2 for 3 with three runs scored for Coast Union.

Avenal 16, North County Christ. 4; Avenal 15, North County Christ. 0

The Crusaders (0-3) had a combined two hits in the doubleheader.


San Luis Obispo 3, Mission Prep 0

Kieran Hansen had 25 assists, and Parker Lauritzen had seven kills and five aces for the Tigers in their 25-14, 25-15, 25-12 sweep of the visiting Royals (1-2).

Tyler Powell had six kills and four aces, and Rennie Heza added 14 digs for San Luis Obispo (3-0).

Jack Mooney had 11 digs and six kills, and Matt Souchek had eight digs and two blocks for Mission Prep.

Templeton 3, St. Joseph 1

The Eagles won 24-26, 25-14, 25-10, 25-20.

Templeton improves to 3-0 in nonleague play. 

Nipomo 3, Orcutt Academy 2

Brandon Buchon had 15 kills and six aces to lead the Titans to a 20-25, 25-21, 26-24, 19-25, 15-11 win over the visiting Spartans.

Scott Gaddis and Tyler Monroe had 12 kills apiece, and Alex Martinez added 41 assists for Nipomo (1-2).


Orcutt Academy 10, Atascadero 8

Elisa Jordan and Jacob Hass both won two of three sets for the Greyhounds (3-4).

The doubles team of Jacob Pomi and Judson Hicks, and Ross Schaefer and Andrew Ramirez both won two of three sets.

Templeton 11, Paso Robles 7

In singles, Andre Heim and Michael Murray each won two of three singles sets to lead the Eagles to the win.

Templeton’s doubles team of Calvin Pinson and Chris Wallace, and Tyler Moxley and Johnny Mummert won two of three sets.

Cooper Austin swept in singles for the Bearcats, as did the doubles team of Mayer Pohlod and Stevie Stark.


San Luis Obispo 444, Mission Prep 499

Tyler Foster medaled for the Tigers (2-0), hitting an 11-over 82 at Dairy Creek Golf Course. 

San Luis Obispo’s Trevor Porter finished second overall with an 85.

Marcel Granoyea hit 88 to place third for the Royals.
