Mission Prep’s boys basketball team lost the championship game of the Arroyo Grande Optimist Tournament 54-48 to Thousand Oaks High on Saturday night.
Andy Rowley had 21 points and four rebounds, and Connor Woolpert had 14 points and eight rebounds. The Royals (4-1) never led and trailed by as much as 13 points in the first half before tying the score at 48 apiece with 45 seconds remaining.
Thousand Oaks broke the tie with a fastbreak dunk. The Royals then turned the ball over, and Thousands Oaks sank its free throws to seal the championship.
Mission Prep won its semifinal game earlier in the day over Hoover 72-45. Quinton Adlesh had 22 points, and Woolpert had 17 in the win.

Atascadero wins twice
In an 84-61 win over Hoover, Robbie Berwick had 30 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists and was named to the all-tournament team at the Arroyo Grande Optimist Tournament for the Greyhounds.
Joe Johnson, who was awarded the Don Roberts Most Inspirational Player award, had 15 points and Brady Youngquist had 12 for Atascadero.
Earlier in the day, Berwick had 25 points in a 64-60 win over Clovis North. Johnson added 14 points for the Greyhounds.
Paso Robles splits two games
Rudy Binkele had 20 points, and Josh Oliver had nine to lead the Bearcats (2-7) to a 65-33 win over Nipomo at the Arroyo Grande Optimist Tournament. Paso Robles led 27-12 at halftime.
Earlier in the day, Matt Willkomm had 18 points in leading Arroyo Grande to a 55-27 win over Paso Robles.
Arroyo Grande’s Cobe Williams was named to the all-tournament team.
Rudy Binkele led Paso Robles with eight points.
Coast Union Invitational
Templeton wins twice
The Eagles (4-2) beat Coast Union 54-39 in the third-place game behind Andy Garretson’s 20 points and nine rebounds. Garretson was named to the all-tournament team.
Aidan Sarbek had five points and 11 rebounds, and Alex Elterman had seven points and four assists for Templeton.
Quinten Raethke had 15 points for Coast Union (3-5), which was outscored 17-2 in the third quarter to break open a close game. Earlier in the day, the Broncos lost 79-18 to Stockdale.
Earlier in the day, Templeton beat Taft 54-24 as Garretson scored 19 points, and Matt Ehrke had 10 points for the Eagles.
Morro Bay splits games
Xavier Alfaro had 20 points to lead the Pirates in a 76-67 win against King City at the Coast Union Invitational.
Zach Smith had 17 points and Luke Munds had 12 for Morro Bay (4-5).
Earlier in the day, the Pirates lost to Santa Maria 57-54. Smith had 19 points in that game, and Munds had 14.
Perry Ford Holiday Tournament
Templeton 41, Bakersfield 36
The Eagles (7-1) beat the Drillers behind Mari Stewart’s 18 points and 14 rebounds. Stewart and Autumn Russell, who had four points, were named to the all-tournament team.
Arroyo Grande wins twice
Krista St. Denis had 12 points, five steals and five rebounds to lead the Eagles in a 49-30 win against Lompoc.
Ashlyn Herlihy had five points and nine rebounds, and Jordan Robinson had nine points and seven rebounds for Arroyo Grande.
In a 45-37 win over Bakersfield, Elizabeth Mero had 14 points and four steals for the Eagles (5-4).
Olivia Galindo had 11 points and four assists, Herlihy had six points and eight blocks and Robinson had eight points and nine rebounds for Arroyo Grande.
Paso Robles splits two games
The Bearcats lost to the Ridgeview 61-28 in their last game of the tournament. Molly Donovan had 12 points, and Katie Ryan had eight for Paso Robles (5-4), which opened the day with a 54-27 win over Orcutt Academy. Donovan had 24 points in the win.
Frontier 40, San Luis Obispo 39
Erica Chandler had a team-high 18 points and added seven rebounds for the Tigers in their loss to Frontier. Jessica Judge had 16 rebounds, five points and three blocks for San Luis Obispo.
Atascadero 51, Centennial 50
Mary Kate Evans had 20 points and eight rebounds, and Camille LeBlanc had 14 points for the Greyhounds (5-2).
Nipomo 37, Elk Grove 32
Peyton Maas had 12 points, and Tess Lattimer had 11 points to lead the Titans (4-4) over Elk Grove, which shot 10 of 70 from the field.
Morro Bay 54, Righetti 15
Sierra Schwellenbach had 13 points, six assists and six steals for the Pirates in their win.
Hannah Gilbert had nine rebounds and six points for Morro Bay (3-2).
Garces 41, Mission Prep 23
Jacqueline San Jule had six points for the Royals (1-8) in their loss.

El Nino/La Nina Tournament
In Irvine, Arroyo Grande (4-2) finished in third place with an 11-6 win over Northwood. Brooklyn VanderVeen had three goals and Melanie Popovich and Morgan Clark both had two.
Arroyo Grande lost its semifinals game to La Jolla 8-0.
