Los Osos High outscored Arroyo Grande 11-3 in the second half Wednesday for a 13-5 win over the Eagles in the semifinals of the CIF-Southern Section Division 4 boys water polo playoffs at UC Irvine.
The score was tied at 2 at halftime before the Eagles took a 4-3 lead in the third quarter. It was all Los Osos after that.
“We were up 4-3 in the middle of the third quarter and we made two pretty crucial mistakes that gave them two pretty easy goals,” Arroyo Grande coach Steven Allen said. “They got some big momentum there. They just kind of ran with it and we couldn’t recover.”
Taylor Ross, Nick Chapman, Hissam el-Effendi, David Vitt and Nick Valente all score a goal apiece for Arroyo Grande.

“Last year, we lost in the first round (of the playoffs),” Allen said. “I think this was a great building year for. We have a lot of young, key players coming back and our senior leadership led us to the second level.
“This was our first time in the semifinals since 2008, so it was good to get back there.”
