Arroyo Grande High’s girls tennis team fell 10-8 to Laguna Hills in the CIF-Southern Section Division 3 championship Friday in Claremont.
The Eagles finished the season 21-2.
“Although we didn’t win today, we accomplished so much this season,” Arroyo Grande coach Lori Hollister said. “But generally speaking, we had a difficult time shaking the nerves today in this high-pressure environment.”
Arroyo Grande singles players Sophie Whittle, Lauren Hayashi and Alex Mero each beat the Laguna Hills No. 3 player 6-0 but struggled against the top two players — Alex Valenstein, ranked No. 63 in the USTA Southern Section 16 singles and No. 84 Michaela Barthelmass.
