Prep Girls Volleyball: Nipomo hands Santa Ynez rare LPL defeat

Nipomo High’s girls volleyball team handed Santa Ynez a 3-1 Los Padres League defeat Thursday, the first time the Pirates have suffered a league loss in seven years.

Paige Waymire had 32 kills and 13 digs in the Titans’ 25-22, 25-23, 24-26, 25-22 victory.

Cristina Ozzimo had six kills and 49 assists for Nipomo (6-0, 1-0 LPL), Sarah Stahl had 34 digs, and Sammi Baker and Taylor Nevitt each had two blocks.

San Luis Obispo 3, Pioneer Valley 0

The Tigers swept Pioneer Valley 25-15, 25-16, 25-11 to win their PAC 7 debut and remain undefeated on the season.

Ariel Becker had a team-high eight kills for the Tigers (11-0). Maggie Eppright had 30 assists.

Arroyo Grande 3, St. Joseph 0

The Eagles (12-3, 1-0 PAC 7) swept the Knights 25-13, 25-11, 25-12 in the league opener for both teams.

Millisa Morrow had 13 kills and seven assists, Ashlyn Herlihy had eight kills and two blocks and Jade Fuller had 13 digs for Arroyo Grande. Alaina Hogeboom added 32 assists for the Eagles.

Righetti 3, Paso Robles 0

The Warriors swept the Bearcats 25-20, 25-22, 29-27.

Molly Donovan had 12 kills and two blocks for Paso Robles.

Templeton 3, Lompoc 0

The Eagles (4-1) swept the Braves 25-22, 25-11, 25-13 in the Los Padres League opener for both teams.

Heather Fields had 10 kills, Mari Stewart had 13 digs and six kills, Sydney Roth had 16 assists and four aces, and Lindsey Wyatt had 24 digs for Templeton.

El Diamante 3, Mission Prep 0

The Royals (2-4) lost to the Miners 28-26, 25-13, 25-18.

Noelle Laid and Grace Ready each had nine kills, Jessa Culver had eight digs, and Natalie Brescia had 24 assists for Mission Prep.

Orcutt Academy 3, North County Christian 0

The Spartans swept the Crusaders 25-17, 25-16, 25-13.

Aliyah Morrison and Karianne Loy led the Crusaders with four kills apiece, and Kelsey McRoy had six assists.

Coast Union 3, Shandon 0

Cristina Plascencia and Karla Soto had five aces each as the Broncos (1-4, 1-0 Coast Valley League) swept the Outlaws 25-8, 25-8, 25-19.
