Arroyo Grande girls tennis bounces back with victory over St. Joseph

In a 14-4 victory over St. Joseph, Arroyo Grande girls tennis singles player Lauren Hayashi swept her sets while dropping only a single game.

“Lauren came right out of the chute today,” Arroyo Grande coach Lori Hollister said. “She played the number three spot today and worked her way up. She beat the first girl 6-0 and just gained momentum throughout the day.”

Sophie Whittle won her singles set 6-4, 6-0, and the Eagles dominated in doubles.

The team of Amber Domako and Zoe Miller swept three sets without losing a game, and duos Melina Rodgers and Joanne Phung and Alexis Flood and Angelica Galiano each won two sets.

Arroyo Grande (3-1) bounced back from Tuesday’s loss to Santa Barbara and now heads into the California Tennis Classic in Clovis. The tournament is hosted by Clovis Buchanan and features more than 100 teams.
