Prep Roundup: San Luis Obispo downs Morro Bay in girls golf

Neha Sikand shot a 4-over 39 on the front nine at Dairy Creek Golf Course to medal in the San Luis Obispo's season-opening 244-290 girls golf victory over Morro Bay on Tuesday.

Nora Zakaria shot a 45, and Sam Tsau shot a 46 for San Luis Obispo.

Lilly Keogh shot a 45 to lead the Pirates. Michelle Cordova shot a 54.

Arroyo Grande 230, Orcutt Academy 272

Emma Fuhs shot a personal-best, 6-over 42 on the front nine at Cypress Ridge Golf Course to lead the Eagles to their second-straight dual win.

Megan Donegan shot a personal-best 45, Anna Zhang and Breana Garcia shot 47 and Tessa Oates shot a personal-best 49 for Arroyo Grande.


Paso Robles 15, Coast Union 3

The Bearcats (2-0) cruised past the Broncos in the nonleague match.

Maria Petiy did not drop a set for Paso Robles, winning 6-0, 6-0, 6-0. The doubles team of Amanda Keller and Riley Austin won 6-2, 6-1, 6-3, and the doubles team Maddie Berry and Katie Evenson won 6-0, 6-2, 6-1.

Alex Zaragoza led Coast Union, winning two of he three sets.

Santa Barbara 12, Arroyo Grande 6

The Eagles (2-1) fell against the reigning CIF-Southern Section Division 2 team champs.

Sophie Whittle and Lauren Hayashi both won two of their three singles sets.

The other two set wins came from Alex Mero in singles and the doubles team of Melina Rodgers and Joanne Phung.

Atascadero 12, Templeton 6

The doubles team of Sydney Sima and Amber Petersen swept 6-2, 6-0, 6-1 to lead the Greyhounds (2-0).

Aspen Bethel won both her singles sets 6-4, 6-1, and the doubles team of Sierra Walcott and Lulu Mack won two of their three sets.

Righetti 13, Morro Bay 5

The visiting Warriors beat the Pirates (0-2) in a nonleague match.

All of Morro Bay’s set wins came from singles players. Sierra Wilcox won 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 after dropping her first set, Amanda Newport won two of her three sets and Tess Badrigian won the other set.


Morro Bay 12, Pioneer Valley 8

Mac Reinhart had four goals, Connor Rosa added three and the Pirates outscored the Panthers 4-1 in the fourth quarter to win their season opener.

Marco Maffiolo and Grant Johnson had two goals each for Morro Bay.

Pirates goalie Jack Krull had eight saves, including a Pioneer Valley penalty shot in the third quarter.

Santa Ynez 21, Atascadero 6

David Hernandez had three goals and Dylan Linnenkamp, Andrew Sedley and Blake Archibald had one each for the Greyhounds in their season-opening loss.
