Prep Roundup: San Luis Obispo girls second at Santa Ynez best-ball golf event

The St. Joseph High girls golf team won the two-person, best-ball Santa Ynez Invitational at the River Golf Course Course at the Alisal Guest Ranch Resort on Tuesday afternoon, edging San Luis Obispo by two strokes.

St. Joseph’s Desiree Gillaspy had the lowest individual, shooting an 8-over 80, which was also the Knights’ team score.

The Tigers finished with an 82. Nora Zakaria had the second-lowest individual round with an 83.

The Arroyo Grande A team and Dos Pueblos tied for third with an 86. The Eagles’ B team was sixth with an 88. The Eagles lowest individual score came from Anna Zhang, who shot a 94.


Orcutt 13, San Luis Obispo 5

Mya O’Brien led the Tigers (1-0) with two set wins, going 6-2, 6-4, 3-6.

The other set winners were singles player Maia Hoffman and the doubles teams of Carolyn Amir and Courtney Gallagher and Caroline Burke and Anna Lippold.

Arroyo Grande 15, Santa Ynez 3

Singles players Sophie Whittle and Lauren Hayashi, and the doubles team of Amber Domako and Zoe Miller all swept for the Eagles (1-0).Whittle won 6-2, 6-0, 6-0 and Hayashi won 6-3, 6-1, 6-0.

Domako and Miller won 6-4, 6-0, 6-1.

Atascadero 13, Coast Union 5

Mallory Miller swept her singles match 6-3, 6-0, 6-1 to lead the Greyhounds (1-0). Emma Seitzer won two sets, winning 6-0, 6-1, and the doubles team of Sydney Sima and Jackie Wulss also won two sets, winning 6-4, 6-1.

The doubles team of Morgan May and Kylie Castle led the Broncos, sweeping their sets 7-6 (7-4), 6-3, 6-4.


Mission Prep 3, Shandon 0

The Royals swept the Outlaws 25-6, 25-7, 25-10 in the season-opening match for both teams.

Natalie Brescia had eight aces and 19 assists for Mission Prep. Grace Ready had a game-high eight kills, and Tyler Bleuer and Noelle Laird each had four kills for the Royals.
