Prep Roundup: Atascadero boys basketball team blasted out of playoffs

The Atascadero High boys basketball team lost to Oak Park 75-46 Tuesday, falling in the quarterfinals of the CIF Southern-Section Division 3A playoffs.

The Greyhounds (18-10) scored just four points in the opening quarter and found themselves down 36-13 at halftime.

Robbie Berwick was the top scorer for the Greyhounds (18-10), scoring 16 points. Atascadero’s Jared Stuedemann and Rayce Reyes added six points apiece.

“Oak Park played a very good game, they shot the ball well and played better than we expected,” Atascadero coach Jerry Tamelier said. “They were very active and did a good job in every aspect of the game. We struggled but overall had a great season.”

The Eagles’ Ron Lee had a game-high 24 points, and Jackson Hall and Brandon Hill scored 14 each. Oak Hill made 10 3-pointers in the game.


Granite Hills 1, San Luis Obispo 0

The Tigers (19-3-3) conceded a first-half goal to the Cougars and never recovered, falling on the road in the second round of the Division 5 playoffs.

Palmdale 2, Nipomo 0

The Titans (14-10-3), down 1-0 at halftime, lost Joel Diaz and Isai Davalos to red cards early in the second half as Nipomo fell on the road in the Division 3 playoffs.

Erubey Ponce had 15 saves in goal for the Titans.

Cate 5, Coast Union 2

Victor Casas had a goal and an assist, and Oscar Catalan added another goal, but the Broncos (12-3-2) fell on the road to the top-seeded Rams (16-1-1) in the second round of the Division 7 playoffs.

Juan Leonardo had six saves in goal for Coast Union, making its second straight playoff appearance.
