The Atascadero High boys basketball team cruised past Paso Robles 64-39 on Friday night for its second straight victory to open PAC 7 play.
Joe Johnson scored 15 points, and Robert Berwick added nine for the Greyhounds (11-4, 2-0 PAC 7).
For the Bearcats (6-9, 1-1 PAC 7), Josh Wilson-Murry contributed 12 points, and Sam Gray added seven.
Atascadero was up 38-16 at halftime and coasted the rest of the way.

“We had a good team effort, a lot of players contributed to the win,” Atascadero coach Jerry Tamelier said. “It’s good to start off league play with wins.”
Arroyo Grande 67, Pioneer Valley 47
The Eagles outscored the Panthers 39-13 in the first half to cruise to the PAC 7 victory over Pioneer Valley.
Arroyo Grande’s Cobe Williams led all scorers with 15 points, while Brent VanderVeen collected a game-high 14 rebounds and added 14 points for the Eagles (1-1 PAC 7).
Nipomo 48, Santa Maria 40
Behind Ryan McNeil’s 33 points, the Titans overcame an eight-point halftime deficit to defeat the Saints.
In addition to the game-high points, McNeil tallied game-highs in rebounds (16), blocks (4) and 3-pointers (3).
Nipomo outscored Santa Maria 35-19 in the second half.
Morro Bay 43, Santa Ynez 32
Edward Griley led Morro Bay (10-7, 3-0 LPL) over Santa Ynez (2-12, 0-3 LPL) with 12 points.
Bryce Owens added nine points for Morro Bay, and Marcus Dorodiz had 12 rebounds. Luke Munds added eight points for Morro Bay.
Coast Union 56, Coastal Christian 36
The Broncos (5-5, 3-1 CVL) defeated the Conquerors on the road.
Valley Christian 50, North Co. Christian 39
The Crusaders (4-8, 2-2 CVL) fell behind the Lions 21-7 in the first quarter and were unable to recover from their early deficit.
Jonathan Katches and Austin Boggan each led North County Christian with 11 points, while Daniel Katches had a team-high 10 rebounds and three steals.
Atascadero 41, Paso Robles 28
Mary Kate Evans scored 20 points, and Emily Boege connected on three 3-point shots en route to scoring 13 points to lead the Greyhounds (9-5, 2-0 PAC 7) past the Bearcats (8-8, 1-1 PAC 7) on the road.
Amani White scored eight points for Paso Robles.
Arroyo Grande 54, Pioneer Valley 44
Heather Madrigal scored 20 points as the Eagles (10-5, 2-0 PAC 7) won at home.
Lindsey Wolf had 12 points and 13 rebounds for Arroyo Grande, and Emma Weinreich added seven blocked shots.
Morro Bay 37, Santa Ynez 34
Morro Bay (10-3, 3-10 LPL) stole a close road victory against Santa Ynez (4-9, 2-2 LPL) behind Sierra Schwellenbach, who had 16 points and eight steals.
Kara Schmidt added 12 points for Morro Bay, and Hannah Gilbert contributed 13 rebounds.
Coastal Christian 44, Coast Union 23
Three Conquerors recorded double-digit rebounds as Coastal Christian (2-3, 2-1 CVL), playing with just five players, defeated the Broncos at home.
Amy Arnold had 15 points and 18 rebounds, Roni Garrison had 12 points and 13 rebounds and Maria Griffin grabbed 13 rebounds for the Conquerors.
Valley Christian 43, North Co. Christian 30
The Crusaders (4-1, 1-1 CVL) suffered their first loss of the season to the Lions.
The Lions’ Mandy Legault scored a game-high 14 points, while Brianna Feld led North County Christian in four categories with 14 rebounds, three assists, four steals and three blocks.
Paso Robles 2, Atascadero 0
Angel Garcia tallied one goal and one assist to lead the Bearcats (8-1-5, 2-0 PAC 7) to the road victory.
Angel Guevara netted the other goal for Paso Robles, and Junior Rodriguez stopped the only Greyhound shot on goal to preserve the shutout.
Pioneer Valley 1, Arroyo Grande 0
After a scoreless first half, the Panthers’ goal in the second half was enough to hand the Eagles (7-2, 1-1 PAC 7) their first league loss of the season.
Arroyo Grande goalie Alex Montero had seven saves for the game.
Coast Union 2, Taft Union 0
Broncos goalie Juan Leonardo had five saves as Coast Union (6-1-1) shut out Taft Union.
After a scoreless first half, the Broncos broke the stalemate with a pair of goals, one from Andy Gordon, assisted by Eduardo Tapilla, and the other by Victor Casas, assisted by Luis DeAble.
Arroyo Grande 5, Pioneer Valley 0
Mallory Flatebo led the Eagles (10-5, 2-0 PAC 7) over Pioneer Valley with two goals.
Nadine Reed, Kina Lang, and Paige Johnson contributed a goal apiece for Arroyo Grande, and Hannah Chandless and Laura Green had two assists each.

Arroyo Grande Winter Classic
The Eagles advanced to the championship bracket with a 13-0 victory over Paso Robles and a 15-2 victory over Oxnard.
Paso Robles earned a 7-6 victory over Buena in its second match.
Nipomo played three matches, defeating San Luis Obispo 9-8 before losing to Chadwick 13-8 and to Elmo 17-11.
San Luis Obispo recovered in its second match with a 10-7 victory over Santa Ynez.
Atascadero defeated the Arroyo Grande junior varsity team 7-5 before losing to Newbury Park 14-6.
