The Arroyo Grande High football team failed to receive a bid to one of five state bowl games on Sunday, despite defeating Culver City 42-14 for the CIF-Southern Section Western Division title.
Helix from La Mesa (12-1), the favorite coming in to receive the Southern Section’s Division 2 state bowl game bid, will take on Del Oro (13-1) in the Division 2 bowl.
That means the Eagles officially end the season with a 13-1 record, winning all 13 games after a season opening loss to Lompoc, 38-28.
The Braves, too, were not named to a bowl, despite going undefeated (14-0) and winning the CIF-Southern Section Northwest Division championship, 21-0, over Cabrillo on Friday. Fresno’s Washington Union will represent the Southern Section in the Division 3 bowl game and play Campolindo of Moraga.
