The San Luis Obispo High boys cross country team placed two runners in the top seven of their Division 3 sweepstakes race at the Mt. SAC Invitational on Friday.
Seamus Land ran the 3-mile course in 15 minutes, 22 seconds to finish in third place for the Tigers, 38 seconds behind first-place finisher Danny Martinez of St. John Bosco. Teammate Luke Kraemer finished seventh at 15:38. Josh Ernst (16:18), Riley Pihl (16:54) and Cameron Bauer (16:57) rounded out the scoring for San Luis Obispo. The Tigers finished ninth as a team with 211 points.
The San Luis Obispo girls placed 10th in their sweepstakes race with 190 points, led by Micayla Renick (13th pace, 19:21) and Olivia Carmo (23rd, 19:46).
In race 18, a Division 3 boys varsity matchup, Paso Robles finished first with 66 points, two ahead of Cabrillo. The Bearcats placed three runners in the top 10: Zander Souza (fourth, 16:25), Aidan Farrell (fifth, 16:26) and Nick Stair (ninth, 16:43).
Atascadero finished 10th in the race with 276 points. Nick Lawdy was the highest placing Greyhound in 13th with a time of 16:56.
In Race 34, a Division 4 girls varsity race, Templeton (56 points) and Nipomo (81 points) finished 1-2, respectively, in the team race.
The Eagles placed all five scorers in the top 25, including Veronica Russell, who won in 19:19. Ann Taylor finished eighth (20:34), Kristina Raine finished 18th (21:28), Dana Alpert finished 19th (21:30 and Kevymar Osuna finished 23rd (21:52) for Tempeton. Savannah Camacho did not run for Templeton.
For the Titans, Cassie Dittenhoefer placed fifth (20:09), and Gracie Albano finished seventh (20:33).
The Mission Prep girls took home a fourth-place finish in Race 38, a Division 5 race, when sisters Rachel and Marie Frye (second place, 19:58 and 13th place, 21:51, respectively) finished in the top 15. The Royals finished with 111 points, which tied them for Vivian Webb, which won the tiebreaker with a higher placing sixth runner for third to Mission Prep’s fourth-pace finish.
Mission Prep’s Ethan Hopwood ran a 17:34 in Race 32, a Division 5 varsity boys race, to pace the Royals to a 10th-place finish with 265 points. In other races, the Atascadero girls finished 10th in Race 22, a Division 3 girls varsity race, with 221 points. Jillian McLenithan finished 23rd with a 20:42 to pace the Greyhounds.
In Race 23 in Division 3, the Paso Robles girls finished 14th with 327 points, and in Race 31, a Division 4 matchup, the Nipomo boys finished 18th with 456 points.
Coastal Christian 3, Shandon 0
The Conquerors (11-1, 8-1) swept the visiting Outlaws (9-5, 7-3) in a Coast Valley League matchup 25-9, 25-9, 25-11.
Leslie Henry led Coastal Christian with 10 kills, and teammate JoAnn Lindstaedt had a team-high 14 assists.
Kayla Celis led Shandon with five kills, 10 digs, and two aces. Dontavia Henderson had 10 kills and two blocks. Leticia Muniz had 15 assists and three aces.
BOYS WATER POLO
Righetti 18, Arroyo Grande 5
Jack Empey scored two goals to pace the Eagles (12-7, 7-2 PAC 7) against the Warriors. Goalie Clint Doucette had two saves, and Chandler Minkins had one in the home loss.
