Prep Roundup: Nipomo rolls past Morro Bay in boys water polo

The No. 1-ranked Nipomo High boys water polo team topped Los Padres League foe Morro Bay 23-5 in a home match Wednesday to remain unbeaten in conference play.

The Titans (16-4, 3-0), who have topped the CIF-Southern Section Division 7 poll for multiple weeks, got seven goals apiece from Cole Holloway and Marc Baker in the rout.

J.W. Dobbe scored three times, and Brennan Bryant added two for the Titans. David Caruso, Brandon Lopez, Connor Cavazos and Brendan Wing had one goal apiece.

Goalkeeper Kirk Wilenius had 11 blocks, and Wing had a team-high three steals.

“It was great preparation for our league nemesis Santa Ynez, who’s coming up one week from (Wednesday),” Nipomo coach Justin Jewell said.The Pirates (5-17, 1-3 LPL) were led by Juan Olabe Armendariz, who scored two goals. Keary Kennedy, D.J. Marcy and Matt Gamara each scored one.

North County Christian falls in volleyball

The North County Christian girls volleyball team was swept by Maricopa, 25-22, 26-24, 25-22.

Brianna Feld led the Crusaders (3-10, 1-7 Coast Valley League) with 15 kills. Cheyenne Ricks had eight aces and 16 assists for North County Christian.
