The San Luis Obispo High girls volleyball team swept Paso Robles 25-22, 25-18, 25-19 on Tuesday night to stay with just one loss heading into their Thursday showdown against fellow PAC 7 contender Arroyo Grande.
Elizabeth Culpepper had nine kills for the Tigers (22-6, 7-1), and Jessica Chellsen and Ariel Becker added six kills each for San Luis Obispo.
Maggie Eppright had 26 assists in the win, and Linnea Ramirez had 12 digs for the Tigers.
For the Bearcats (11-8, 4-5), Molly Donovan had 20 kills and four digs, and Brittany Tackett had four kills and four digs.
Arroyo Grande 3, Atascadero 0
The Eagles, also with only one loss in the PAC 7, had 12 blocks during a 25-10, 25-21, 25-13 sweep.
“I thought we served the ball pretty well and we blocked pretty well,” Arroyo Grande coach Ernie Santa Cruz said. “I thought our serving put a lot of pressure on them and forced them out of their offense. I think that was a big factor.”
Alyssa Koenig had eight kills and two aces for the Eagles (19-4, 8-1), and Madison Jacobs also had eight kills to go with her three blocks.
Kylie Anderson had four blocks, and Millisa Morrow had 25 assists in the win.
Brittany Davis led the Greyhounds (15-9, 6-3) with 10 kills, and Mary Kate Evans had five.
Templeton 3, Nipomo 0
Autumn Russell had nine kills, Sarah Kretzu had eight kills and six aces, and the Eagles swept the Titans, 25-23, 26-24, 25-19.
Mari Stewart had five kills and five aces, and Sydney Roth had 21 assists and 10 digs for Templeton (13-3, 7-2 Los Padres League).
Stephanie Persky had 16 kills, Cristina Ozzimo had 26 assists, and Sarah Stahl had 22 digs for Nipomo (8-15, 3-5 LPL).
Morro Bay 3, Lompoc 1
The Pirates dropped the first set 25-20 but came back to win the next three, 25-15, 25-10, 25-14.
Jill Brown had 11 kills, Kylie Gacad had 27 assists and five aces, and Monica Santiago had 19 digs for Morro Bay (5-4 LPL).
Mission Prep 3, Cabrillo 2
The Royals (8-4) prevailed, 17-25, 26-24, 25-22, 18-25, 15-11.
Grace Ready had 16 kills, five digs and six aces to lead Mission Prep, and Sadie Casacca had a team-best 15 digs, along with eight kills and two aces.
Maggie Boneso passed out 35 assists for the Royals and had five aces and seven digs.
Coast Union 3, Orcutt Academy 0
The Broncos (9-4), who remained ranked No. 2 in this week’s CIF-Southern Section Division 5-A poll, set the tone for the nonleague sweep with a 25-4 first-set win before claiming the next two, 25-13, 25-16.
“The girls came out (Tuesday) and showed no let-up,” Coast Union coach Pam Kenyon said. “I’m very pleased with where we are at this point of the season.”
Sophie Flemion had seven kills and 31 assists for the Broncos. Nicky Ortiz had eight kills in the win, and Katelyn Lorenz had six aces.
Shandon 3, Valley Christian 2
The Outlaws rallied to win 17-25, 25-20, 18-25, 25-11, 15-9.
Kayla Celis had 15 kills, 27 digs and six aces, and Dontavia Henderson had a team-high 21 kills and six aces for Shandon (8-4, 6-2 Coast Valley League).
Kathryn Gearhart also had seven aces and six digs in the win.
Coastal Christian 3, Cuyama Valley 0
Leslie Henry racked up 10 kills and 28 digs, and the Conquerors won 25-12, 25-10, 25-5.
Koral Wright had seven aces, and JoAnn Lindstaedt had 19 assists for Coastal Christian (10-1, 7-1 CVL), the fourth-ranked team in Division 5-A.
San Luis Obispo 16, Paso Robles 2
The Tigers (11-2, 7-1 PAC 7) won all nine in doubles play, led by sweeps from India Hoffman and Darla Berkefeld (6-0, 6-1, 6-0) and Caroline Burke and Annaliese Lippold (6-1, 6-4, 6-2).
Tori Troesch led San Luis Obispo in singles, sweeping 6-1, 6-0, 6-0, and Abigail Will won each of her two sets, 6-0, 6-0.
Arroyo Grande 13, Atascadero 5
Sophie Whittle swept 6-2, 6-0, 6-0, and the Eagles defeated the Greyhounds.
Lauren Hayashi won two of three sets, 3-6, 6-0, 6-1, and Alex Mero won 1-6, 6-0, 6-0 for Arroyo Grande (17-1, 9-0 PAC 7).
Atascadero’s Amber Petersen also took two of three, 2-6, 6-3, 6-1, while Rhi Dudley and Mallory Miller won 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 in doubles for the Greyhounds.
Nipomo 12, Morro Bay 6
Lauren Kueffler swept 6-1, 6-3, 6-0 for the Titans (4-8, 3-5 LPL), and Kelly Barrett added a 6-2, 4-6, 6-0 day in singles.
Gianna Abatti and Ann Wardlaw swept 6-4, 6-3, 6-3 for Nipomo in doubles.
The Pirates got two singles wins from Lily Quirk, who went 3-6, 6-4, 6-1.
In doubles, Emily Franzmann and Clare Olson went 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 for Morro Bay.
Mission Prep 13, Coast Union 6
Alex Zaragoza won two of her three sets, 3-6, 6-1, 6-1, as the Broncos (0-12) fell to the Royals.
Bennett McManus and Renee Johnson won one of their sets in doubles for Coast Union, 6-3.
BOYS WATER POLO
Arroyo Grande 13, Pioneer Valley 3
Cisco Bass, Tanner Sandman, Taylor Ross, Dennis Meffert and Roberto Dessi all scored two goals apiece to lead the Eagles (12-6, 6-1) in the PAC 7 rout.
Clint Doucette made six saves in goal for Arroyo Grande.
Paso Robles 8, Atascadero 7
The Bearcats’ Devon Nicklas and Ricky Lloyd both scored three goals as Paso Robles (12-12, 4-4 PAC 7) downed the Greyhounds.
Both Morgan Moore and Noah Erwin scored one goal apiece, while Ben Nagengast had 12 saves.
Chad Ponek led Atascadero with four goals, and Matt Buckingham had 15 saves.
