Prep Boys Water Polo: Holloway leads Nipomo to win over Santa Maria

Propelled by an eight-goal performance by Cole Holloway, the Nipomo High boys water polo team routed Santa Maria High 17-1 Wednesday afternoon.

Marc Baker added three goals for the Titans (14-3, 2-0 Los Padres League), the top-ranked team in the latest CIF-Southern Section Division 7 poll, and J.W. Dobbe scored twice.

Kirk Wilenius made seven saves in goal during the game, which Nipomo led 13-0 at halftime.

Morro Bay falls to Santa Ynez

The Morro Bay High boys water polo team lost 9-5 at Santa Ynez (11-0), the fifth-ranked team in Division 7 of the Southern Section.

Juan Olabe Armendariz scored two goals for Morro Bay, and played in goal during the first half, making five saves. Mac Reinhart took over as the goalie in the second half, collecting three saves.

Grant Johnson added two goals for Morro Bay (2-9, 1-1 LPL), with D.J. Marcy tallying the other score.
