Prep Roundup: Templeton's Camacho wins at Righetti Invitational

Templeton High star Savannah Camacho was the top girls finisher Friday at the Righetti Invitational, finishing the 5K course in 19 minutes, 26 seconds.

Nipomo won the girls team title with 40 points to 44 for runner-up Templeton and 67 for third-place Paso Robles.

Templeton’s Veronica Russell finished second in the girls race in 19:31. Nipomo’s Kyra Meko and Gracie Albano finished fourth and fifth in 21:00 and 21:10, while Danica Boggs and Angela Sandoval placed ninth and 10th, respectively for Paso Robles, in 21:25 and 21:29.

The Templeton boys finished seventh out of eight teams with 161 points.

Arroyo Grande boys split in water polo

Arroyo Grande’s boys water polo team split two games in the Irvine Tournament, losing 9-5 to Clovis North and beating Beckman 14-13 in overtime.

In the loss to Clovis North, Arroyo Grande (3-4) had goals from Taylor Ross, Dennis Meffert, Tanner Sandman, Jack Empey, and Cisco Bass. Chandler Mankins had four saves and Clint Douceppe had two saves for the Eagles.

Dennis Meffert took over for the Eagles in a thrilling overtime win against Beckman. Meffert scored five goals, including the game-winner in the OT period. Empey also had a hat trick, as the win secured a spot in the second-place bracket today.

Nipomo boys water polo picks up two wins

At the San Gabriel Valley Shootout, Nipomo’s boys water polo team defeated Montclair 14-3 and Don Lugo 11-4.

The Titans’ Marc Baker and J.W. Dobbe scored four and three goals respectively in the win over Montclair.

Against Don Lugo, the Titans were led again by Baker and Dobbe, who added four and three goals respectively.

Shandon girls volleyball team wins

Shandon downed Valley Christian Academy 3-0 in a Coast Valley League girls volleyball match.

The Outlaws (4-2, 2-0 CVL) won 25-13, 25-8, 25-14 behind 10 kills and three aces from Kayla Celis. Adilene Torres also had three aces and had 14 digs. Dontavia Henderson had 11 kills and three blocks.

Coastal Christian girls volleyball team wins

Coastal Christian got six aces from Sevelyn VanRonk and rolled to a 25-13, 25-6, 25-5 CVL girls volleyball win over Cuyama Valley.

JoAnn Lindstaedt had 17 assists, Koral Wright had 18 digs and Leslie Henry finished with eight kills for Coastal Christian (3-0, 2-0).
