Prep roundup: Eagles open PAC 7 girls golf season with win over Tigers

The Arroyo Grande High girls golf team defeated San Luis Obispo 244-326 on the par-36 front nine Monday at Cypress Ridge Golf Course.

Anna Zhang shot a 9-over 45 to medal, leading an Eagles performance that featured five golfers at 51 or under. Also for Arroyo Grande (3-0, 1-0 PAC 7), Ramie Castilleja shot a 48, Megan Donegan carded a 49, Breana Garcia shot a 51 and Emma Fuhs also shot 51. Those scores were personal bests for both Castilleja and Garcia.

Sam Lopez was the low scorer for the Tigers (0-1 PAC 7) with a 54. Catuih Campos (65), Shannon Healy (68), Corryn Engdahl (69) and Amy Baker (70) completed the scoring for San Luis Obispo.

Atascadero 251, Righetti 270

The Greyhounds opened league play with a dominant home victory on the par-35 front nine at Chalk Mountain Golf Course.

Atascasdero’s Marissa McClain was the medalist, carding an 11-over 46. Kodie Hood shot a 49, Joelle Clay and Danyele Rampone shot 50s, and Kyleigh Jensen shot a 56 to round out the Greyhound scoring.

Santa Ynez 231, Morro Bay 272

Gina Wongwatcharano shot a 44 and Lilly Keogh carded a 49, but Morro Bay lost in their Los Padres League opener on the par-35 front nine at Morro Bay Golf Course.

Kristen Henno of Santa Ynez shot a 36 to earn medalist honors.

Nipomo 259, Lompoc 334

The Titans’ Ashley Gonzales shot a personal best 45 in the win at La Purisma Golf Course.

Sara Clark added a 46, and Courtney Cuzick shot a 52 as Nipomo dominated its league opener on the road.
