Area roundup: Paso Robles Bearcat Gridiron Club to hold funding meeting

Paso Robles

The Paso Robles Bearcat Gridiron Club will host a meeting at 6 p.m. Aug. 2, in room 803 at Paso Robles High (the northeast corner of the campus), to discuss funding ideas for the school’s football program.

Athletics and extracurricular funding throughout the Paso Robles school district have been slashed in recent years as a result of ongoing state budget cuts to the public education system. Volunteers are welcome, and the public is invited.

San Luis Obispo

San Luis Obispo High is looking to hire a varsity head girls basketball coach for next season. Interested applicants should call Tigers athletic director Vic Ecklund at 596-4040.

Atascadero

Doug Harbottle, a highly experienced, nationally renowned club volleyball coach, will host a Mid-Coast Volleyball Camp for locals starting at 9 a.m. Saturday at Colony Park Gym.

Sessions at the four-day camp will last until 4 p.m. each day. Boys and girls at all skill levels are welcomed.

A second skills camp will also be offered from Aug. 13-16. For more information, or to register, call 461-5000 or 441-6908.
