Two graduating San Luis Obispo High football stars have finalized their plans to play college football, Tigers coach David Kelley said Monday.
Linebacker Nick Butier will be an invited walk-on at Northern Arizona, while running back Vance Cramer will play at Cal Lutheran.
Butier made 122 tackles as a senior on his way to being chosen to The Tribune’s all-San Luis Obispo County first team. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound Butier also started on the Tigers’ offensive line, and was named the team’s co-MVP with receiver Mason Orradre.
Northern Arizona, located in Flagstaff, Ariz., went 6-5 overall in 2010, finishing in sixth place in the Big Sky Conference standings.
The 6-1, 190-pound Cramer rushed for 612 yards and two touchdowns on 91 carries. Cramer, who made 75 tackles as a linebacker, was a first-team all-PAC 7 honoree at fullback.
The Kingsmen, a Division III program located in Thousand Oaks, went 8-2 last year, finishing ranked No. 21 nationally by D3football.com.
