Six Bearcats, five Eagles named to Southern Section football team

A total of 15 San Luis Obispo County prep football stars were on the CIF-Southern Section’s all-divisional teams announced Thursday.

Paso Robles High, which won the PAC 7 title outright and advanced to the Western Division semifinals, had the most honorees of any local team, with six: senior quarterback Jacob Searcy, senior running back Jesse Felgenhauer, junior receiver Elias Stokes, senior offensive lineman Cole Thompson, senior safety Scott Plescia and senior nose tackle Bo Bonnheim.

Arroyo Grande, which was the final county team alive in the playoffs upon reaching the Western Division championship game, had five selections: junior offensive lineman Garrett Weinreich, junior kicker Garrett Owens, junior safety Seth Jacobs, senior linebacker Kelly Shepard and senior defensive lineman Caleb Evans.

For Atascadero, which made it to the Western Division quarterfinal round, senior cornerback Troy Norris was honored.Three county standouts earned all-Northwest Division team praise.

Templeton, which advanced to the semifinals of the playoffs, had senior linebackers Tyler Gray and Daulton Oropeza each selected.Additionally, Morro Bay saw senior quarterback Sam Crizer picked as a utility player.

All 15 of the players honored were all-league and Tribune all-county selections this past season.

Jacobs, Owens, Weinreich and Stokes were recently selected to Cal-Hi Sports’ all-state underclassman team, and Crizer and Gray were both chosen by Cal-Hi Sports for all-state medium-sized schools honors.
