Prep Roundup: Morro Bay wrestlers roll by Nipomo

The Morro Bay High wrestling team won five matches via fall en route to a 49-18 victory over Nipomo on Thursday night in a Los Padres League dual.

The Pirates (2-2, 1-0) picked up pins from Josh Richmond (135 pounds), Jaccob Carlson (145), Kent Beecham (152), Dominic Woods (160) and Keinneth Tagalicud (215).

Nipomo was led by heavyweight standout Brett Kimball, who improved his record to 20-2 with a pin in just 24 seconds. Jared Dorado (189) also picked up a pin for the Titans (0-1 LPL).

Morro Bay was without 140-pound standout Dolin Minnini, who took the dual off after a third-place finish in the Tournament of Champions last week in Placentia.


Nipomo 1, Templeton 0

Ben Jimenez scored on an assist from Abraham Perez in the 41st minute for Nipomo (6-8-2, 2-2 LPL). The goal was the first allowed by Templeton (4-3, 1-1) in five games.

Lompoc 2, Coast Union 1

Victor Casas scored the lone goal for Coast Union (5-1), on an assist from Omar Catalan.


Templeton 3, Nipomo 1

The Eagles (2-1 LPL) got goals from AnnieMae Bohnsack, Jessica Cheek and Sarah Mosher in a win.

Santa Ynez 1, Morro Bay 0

Hanna Meisinger made six saves and broke up several breakaways, but Santa Ynez got a goal in the 62nd minute to remain unbeaten in league play.

Morro Bay fell to 2-8-2 and 1-3 in the LPL.
