Paso Robles' Bernal named to Southern Section baseball first team

Paso Robles senior Thomas Bernal led a number of county players selected to the all CIF-Southern Section teams announced Monday.

Bernal, who was selected to the Division 2 first team, led the Bearcats (17-12) to the PAC 7 baseball title with team-bests in batting average (.432), RBI (27) and home runs (three). He also led all league players with a .554 on-base percentage and 23 walks.

Bernal pitched 612⁄3 innings, with a 7-1 record and a 3.75 ERA.

Also earning Division 2 honors was Arroyo Grande pitcher Kyle Raubinger, who was named to the second team. Raubinger went 9-1 on the mound with a 1.78 ERA for the Eagles and hit .417 with five homers and 30 RBI.

Two North County Christian players were named to the Division 7 first team — pitcher Taylor Brard and utility player Josh Feld.

Brard (8-1) compiled a 3.72 ERA, striking out 82 batters in 47 innings pitched.

Feld hit .480 with a .633 on-base percentage, striking out just once in 79 plate appearances. As a pitcher, Feld (9-0) had a 2.83 ERA, striking out 76 in 47 innings.

Teammate Keelan Willison is on the Division 7 second team.

Atascadero second baseman Brigit Godfrey was named to the softball Division 2 first team. She was the only county softball player to be named to the team.

Godfrey hit a team-best .409 with 14 RBI to help lead Atascadero to the PAC 7 title.

The San Luis Obispo boys volleyball team have two players on the Division 2 team in outside hitters Nick Butier (second team) and Chip Blaney (third team).

Butier led the Tigers with 280 kills and a .310 hitting percentage. Blaney had a team-high 60 aces.
