San Luis Obispo posts boys volleyball sweep of Paso Robles

The San Luis Obispo High boys volleyball team swept visiting Paso Robles 25-10, 25-15, 25-17 on Tuesday night as the Tigers’ Chip Blaney posted a team-high eight kills.

Sam Duval had seven kills and two blocks for San Luis Obispo (15-1, 5-0 PAC 7), and teammate Jeremy Cleere had 13 digs.

Paso Robles senior Cheyne Hayes had a match-best 13 kills and two blocks, while Kodie Redongo had 15 assists for the Bearcats (4-5, 2-3 PAC 7).

Arroyo Grande 3, Nipomo 0

The Eagles (5-3, 4-1 PAC 7) swept 25-14, 25-16, 25-15.

Arroyo Grande’s Sean Reed had 15 kills and eight aces, and Danny Merritt added eight blocks.

St. Joseph 3, Morro Bay 0

The Knights swept 25-22, 25-17, 25-22.

Carson Szarek and Marcus Zorovich each had eight digs for Morro Bay (3-6, 1-2 Los Padres League).

BOYS TENNIS

Arroyo Grande 16, Lompoc 2

The Eagles (12-3), ranked 10th in the latest CIF-Southern Section Division 2 poll, got unblemished performances from their top two singles players, freshmen Eli Whittle (who won 6-0, 6-0) and Sean Hollister (who won 6-0, 6-0).

Meanwhile, the doubles tandems of Danny Williams and Evan Lange (6-0, 6-0, 6-1), and Tyler Yager and Brent Moore (6-0, 6-2, 6-1) both swept their three opportunities.

Ian Moynagh and Kenji McKinstry added 6-3, 6-0 wins in doubles, with Moynagh and substitute Jason Dong tacking on a 6-1 win.

Righetti 18, Nipomo 0

Kyle Cottrell had the best showing for the Titans in singles, falling 1-6, 4-6, 2-6.

POSTPONEMENTS AND CANCELLATIONS

Several Tuesday events were postponed or canceled because of rainy weather.

Atascadero postponed its home boys tennis match against San Luis Obispo to 3 p.m. Monday and its softball game at Arroyo Grande to 4 this afternoon.

Mission Prep canceled its softball game at Carmel. North County Christian put off its baseball and softball games at Cuyama Valley, although a make-up date hasn’t been finalized.

Morro Bay postponed its baseball and softball games at St. Joseph to 4 p.m. Monday.

Additionally, Paso Robles pushed back its home boys tennis match versus Pioneer Valley to 3 p.m. Friday, its softball game at Righetti to 4 p.m. Thursday and its baseball contest at Pioneer Valley to 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

San Luis Obispo, meanwhile, postponed its boys golf matchup with Pioneer Valley to 2 this afternoon, moving the event to Avila Beach Golf Resort. The Tigers also postponed their softball game at Nipomo to 4 this afternoon.

Templeton rescheduled its home baseball and softball games against Santa Ynez to 4 p.m. Monday.
