Meagan Snell, a 2004 graduate of Arroyo Grande High, was drafted as the 44th overall pick of Friday’s Women’s Professional Soccer League Draft by Sky Blue FC, the defending league champions.
Sky Blue is based in Piscataway Township, New Jersey.
Snell, who played collegiately at Santa Clara, was drafted in the fifth round.
Snell had spent time playing in the WPSL with the Sacramento Storm and in the Silicon Valley Soccer League in the Bay Area after graduation in 2008.

Snell finished her Santa Clara career with 20 goals and 11 assists in 87 games.
Snell played at Santa Clara from 2004-07. She was a first team all-West Coast Conference pick as a junior in 2006 when she led the Broncos with 11 goals and 25 points. She also had four game-winning goals as a junior.
She was an honorable mention all-WCC pick as a senior. As a sophomore, she scored in each of Santa Clara’s first two NCAA Tournament games. Snell had five goals as a sophomore and three as a senior.
