Cal Poly senior guard Lorenzo Keeler was named the Big West Conference Player of the Week on Monday after averaging 26 points in three games to help the Mustangs get off to a 2-1 start in conference play.
The 6-foot-2 senior from Escondido scored a career-high 38 points in Cal Poly’s 95-81 win over UC Irvine in the conference opener. He led the team in scoring in all three games last week, scoring 18 against Pacific and 22 against UC Davis.
For the season, Keeler is averaging 15.4 points per game, 1.9 rebounds and shoots 88 percent from the free-throw line.
He had a steak of 27 consecutive free throws made come to an end against UC Davis on Sunday, his first miss at the line since Dec. 5.
