The San Luis Obispo High girls tennis team (8-1) suffered its first defeat of the season, falling 11-7 to San Marcos in what Tigers coach Gary Etheredge said was a closely contested match Friday in Santa Barbara.
“I knew a little about San Marcos (before we played),” Etheredge said. “I knew it would be a good test. We were very evenly matched.”
Kristy Kayatta and Abigail Will each won two singles matches for San Luis Obispo, which is undefeated in the PAC 7.
“It definitely helps us (in gaining an edge during conference matches) playing some of these tough Santa Barbara teams,” Etheredge said.
