Prep Roundup: Arroyo Grande sweeps San Luis Obispo in volleyball

Chelsey McKelvy had a match-high 10 kills and four blocks as the Arroyo Grande High girls volleyball team swept San Luis Obispo 25-16, 25-19, 25-17 in San Luis Obispo on Tuesday.

Rachel Ventura added seven kills and a match-high five aces for Arroyo Grande (11-2, 4-0 PAC 7), which has yet to drop a set in four league matches. The Eagles entered the Division I-A rankings earlier this week at No. 10.

Maggie Jo Keffury added 32 assists, three aces and two kills, and teammate Madi Ventura had a match-high 24 digs for Arroyo Grande.

The Tigers (7-7, 2-2 PAC 7) got seven kills each from Jessica Chellsen and Elizabeth Culpepper. Brianna Mallory added a team-high 21 digs for San Luis Obispo.

Atascadero 3, Righetti 2

Brianna Norlock led the Greyhounds (8-2, 4-1 PAC 7) with 12 kills in their 22-25, 25-18, 25-17, 17-25, 15-8 victory.

Kiah Featherstone followed Norlock with 10 kills and four aces.

Paso Robles 3, Coast Union 0

Karlee Anderson led Paso Robles with 10 kills in its 25-17, 25-10, 25-10 nonleague sweep. Kellie Reynolds contributed seven aces and 19 assists.

Aja Linder and Sophie Flemion led Coast Union with a combined 10 kills and 25 assists.

Coastal Christian 3, North County Christian 1

Coastal Christian defeated the Crusaders 25-18, 21-25, 25-17, 25-19.

Joanne Staedt had 20 assists for Coastal Christian, and Leslie Henry added 12 kills and six blocks. Grace Napier also had 12 kills.

North County Christian’s Brianna Feld had six kills, and Cheyenne Ricks added 10 assists.


San Luis Obispo 15, Nipomo 10

Dragan Dincic led San Luis Obispo with five goals.

Jeff Gomez and Kyle McAlahney each had three goals for the Tigers (3-0 PAC 7).

Marc Baker had five goals for Nipomo (0-5 PAC 7).

Arroyo Grande 12, Atascadero 6

Eric Marsh had five goals for the Eagles (4-0 PAC 7), who led 9-2 at halftime.

Jake Vukovich and Levi Adams led the Greyhounds with two goals each.

Righetti 12, Paso Robles 5

Righetti shut out Paso Robles in the first two quarters, and Kyle Stevins had eight saves for the Warriors.

Righetti’s Vincent Martel had four goals, and Kevin Malins added three more.

Austin McCall had four goals for the Bearcats.


San Luis Obispo 16, Nipomo 2

Kristy Kayatta won three singles matches for the Tigers (5-0 PAC 7).

The Tigers won all nine singles matches.

Nipomo’s wins came from the doubles teams of Jenny Cardenas and Tessa Underwood, and Jennifer Faour and Leah Iliff.

Arroyo Grande 16, Atascadero 2

Hayley Veal won 6-3, 6-1, 6-0 in singles for the Eagles (4-1 PAC 7).

Atascadero’s Kristin McBride picked up a singles win. The Greyhounds’ other win came from the doubles team Marisa Jordan and Rhiannon Dudley.

Paso Robles 16, Righetti 2

Paso Robles’ Maria Petiy won her singles match 6-0, 6-0, 6-1 for the Bearcats (5-1).

Angelica Shubbie had three singles wins for the Bearcats, and Savannah Carlson added two singles wins.

Lauren Hynes and Lauren Redberg swept in doubles for Paso Robles.

Morro Bay 14, Santa Maria 4

Megan Hansen and Hannah Richardson each swept three singles matches for the Pirates (2-4-1, 1-3-1 Los Padres League).
