The Righetti High football team kept the ball out of San Luis Obispo's hands, jumping out to a 20-7 halftime lead on Friday night.
Righetti rushed the ball 24 times — 23 of them coming from running back DJ Freitas. Freitas also had two touchdowns, one coming on a dive from a yard out and another on a 18-yard run.
Righetti also scored on a 38-yard pass from freshman quarterback Chase Artopoeus to Deandre Thomas.
The Tigers found their rhythm late in the second half, scoring on a 1-yard pass from Omeed Djassemi to Geovoni Gabriele. San Luis Obispo also had success running the ball with Pierson Mosichuk, who had 54 yards on the ground.
