It was a match against the top two girls golf teams in the PAC 8. When it was over, it was right back to where it started.
Arroyo Grande High and San Luis Obispo each had 3-0 records heading into Tuesday's match at Dairy Creek.
Arroyo Grande's trio at the top excelled in the match. The Eagles' No. 3 golfer Delanie Dunkle grabbed medalist honors with a 2-over-par 37 on the front-9. Her No. 1 teammate Kinsey McBryde (41) and No. 2 Vanessa Watkins (40) also played well.
San Luis Obispo had a more balanced attack, with all five players shooting in the 40s. No. 1 Bee Soll led the Tigers with a score of 40 and Isabel Carpenter shot 43.

Arroyo Grande coach Claudia Souder and San Luis Obispo coach Julia Puscheck said they needed to consult the rule book after the match ended to find out if there was a tie-breaker. Both said that the bylaws stated that each team would be awarded one point each and the match would end in a tie.
Arroyo Grande remains undefeated on the season with a 6-0-1 overall record and a 3-0-1 record in the PAC 8. San Luis Obispo is now 7-2-1 overall and 3-0-1 in league play.
The two teams will meet again Thursday at Dairy Creek as part of a PAC 8 meet that includes the rest of the teams in the league.
