Prep girls golf roundup: Morro Bay closes in on LPL's top spot

The Morro Bay High girls golf team closed the gap for first place in the Los Padres League with a 255-259 win over Cabrillo on Monday at the par-35 front nine at Morro Bay Golf Course.

The Pirates (3-1) moved within one point of Cabrillo for league’s the top spot.

Alyssa Noriega carded a 49, and Kelly Dudley shot 49 for Morro Bay.

Cabrillo’s Baylee Gregory was the medalist after carding a 46.

Atascadero 249, St. Joseph N/A

Atascadero defeated a short-handed St. Joseph squad at the par-35 front nine at Chalk Mountain Golf Course.

St. Joseph only had four players, so the Greyhounds (4-2, 2-1 PAC 8) won by default.

The two sides played anyway. Atascadero shot a 249, led by medalist Morgan Humphrey’s 43.

Justine McAlister added a 48 for the Greyhounds.

Santa Ynez 283, Nipomo 293

Nipomo lost to Santa Ynez, 283-293, at the par-36 front nine at Monarch Dunes.

Santa Ynez’s Eva Henesee and Nipomo’s Brook Cuzick shared medalist honors after carding 47.
