The Morro Bay High boys water polo team took first place in its bracket at the Bull Run Diamond Bar Tournament and finished in ninth place overall.
The Pirates, in the gold division, played five games in the tournament, winning three of them on Saturday: 12-9 over Claremont, 15-9 over El Rancho and beating Arcadia 16-14 in the final.
League play begins on Wednesday for the Pirates against Nipomo.

The Eagles went 0-2 at the Irvine Tournament on Saturday.
In the Eagles’ first game, they lost 12-8 to Segerstrom. Jack Alexander had three goals and Josh Smith and Josh Jewell had a pair of goals each. Jarod Swenson had eight saves in the game.
In Arroyo Grande’s second game, Irvine downed the Eagles 12-9. Alexander had two goals and five different Eagles scored a goal in the game. Swenson had four saves.
