The Nipomo High football team was shut out in the second half of their 14-10 loss at Santa Ynez on Friday night.
The Pirates scored the winning touchdown with 8:14 left in the third quarter when they recovered their own fumbled handoff in the end zone.
Tony Navarro scored on a 1-yard run for Nipomo (2-2), and Juan Eguiluz kicked a 32-yard field goal. Both scores came in the second quarter.
Navarro finished with 122 yards on 22 carries. Quarterback Gavin Hall was 7-of-18 passing for 53 yards and threw an interception while facing a strong Santa Ynez pass rush.
