Morro Bay football team blown out by Lompoc

The Morro Bay High football team came up against one of the area’s top teams and lost 64-0 at home Friday night.

Lompoc (3-1) jumped out to a 37-0 lead after the first quarter.

Pirates coach David Kelley said Morro Bay (0-4) had trouble moving the ball playing with a backup quarterback against the Braves. Starting quarterback Isaac Manuputy missed the game due to injury.

He praised the running of Luis Alvarez and Brandon McGinley, and was proud of his team’s effort.

“What we learned tonight is that our kids have a lot of heart. They aren’t gonna back down” Kelley said. “They have a lot of fight in them.”
