The Nipomo High boys water polo team outlasted Atascadero 11-9 in overtime Thursday.
Held scoreless in the third quarter, the Titans scored five goals in the fourth quarter to force overtime.
Matt Dahlberg, Jacob Billinger and Blake Hudson, each had three goals for Nipomo (5-1).
Gerrit VanderVeen added two more goals — one in the second overtime period as time expired for the Titans — and junior goalie Luke Wilenius notched 11 saves.

“Hats off to Atascadero for their effort,” Nipomo coach Cody King said, “It was one of the most hard fought games I’ve ever seen. Additionally I’d like to praise my goalie, Luke Wilenius, and the defensive adjustments the team made (as a whole).”
San Luis Obispo 13, Santa Ynez 12
Galen Penvenne scored a game-high five goals to help the Tigers defeat the Pirates during a nonleague match in Atascadero.
Other multiple-goal scorers for San Luis Obispo included Ben Hurley (four), Jack Milik (two) and Mark Olson (two).
Goalkeeper Andrew Maas made seven saves for the Tigers (3-0).
