The Arroyo Grande High cross country team enjoyed two first-place finishers, behind Leza Cassidy’s time of 14 minutes 49 seconds in the girls race and Christian Ricketts’ time of 12:16 in the boys race at the Greg DeNike Big Ditch Classic 4K course on Saturday.
In the girls race, Paso Robles’ Ashley Davis was fourth with a time of 15:30 as Paso Robles was third in the team race. The Bearcats’Annie Meeder was eighth.
Finishing second in the team race, the Eagles had Talley Hill finish fifth (15:31) and Haley Chavez sixth (15:41).
Nipomo was eighth, led by Flor Hernandez, who finished 21st (17:06). Morro Bay was ninth behind Hannah Buechner (17:35).
Ventura won the girls team title.
In the boys race, Paso Robles was second in the team standings, with three finishers in the top 10. Luis Armendariz was third (12:18), Gannon Chamberlain was fourth (12:48) and Joshua Potter was eighth (13:07).
Jacob Emeterio was 11th (13:18) and Tavis Cote was 16th (13:36) as Arroyo Grande finished third in the team race.
Nipomo was fourth, with Rogelio Flores finishing 13th (13:28), Garrett Morgan 18th (13:43) and Josue Navarro was 22nd (13:54).
Morro Bay was ninth, behind Andrew Stafford’s 10th-place finish (13:15).
Ventura also won the boys team title.
Bolger wins for San Luis Obispo in Santa Barbara
Callum Bolger won the boys 3-mile race in 15 minutes, 19 seconds in leading San Luis Obispo to a seventh-place team finish in the Gaucho Invitational in Santa Barbara.
Bolger finished seven seconds ahead of St. Bonaventure’s Isaiah Lozano in the boys race.
Santa Ynez topped Hueneme 72-79 for the boys team title. The Tigers were seventh with 156 points in the 13-team field.
San Luis Obispo had four girls finish in the top 13 as the Tigers finished second in the 12-team race with 64 points to 47 for Newbury Park and 67 for third-place Laguna Blanca.
Jenny Grady was sixth for the Tigers in 19:53, Hope Morgan was eighth in 20:00, Samantha Simard was 11th in 20:12 and Sierra Nunes was 13th in 20:18.
