Prep football wrap-up: Templeton, Arroyo Grande win on the road

Templeton 30, Kern Valley 15

Templeton junior Shane Simonin rushed for 176 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries in Templeton’s (1-2) first win of the season. Senior Zack Hewitson added 43 yards rushing and a touchdown.

Arroyo Grande 24, Independence 10

Arroyo Grande junior quarterback Kadin Byrne ran for a touchdown and passed for another to give the Eagles (1-2) their first win of the season.

Stockdale 28, Atascadero 0

Atascadero (1-2) turned the ball over six times in the loss. The Greyhounds gained more than 400 yards rushing, with Kobe Cross and Arik Machado gaining over 100 yards, but weren’t able to find pay dirt.

Carpinteria 27, Morro Bay 10

Morro Bay senior Myles Minnis rushed for 122 yards and a touchdown to go along with six catches for 82 yards. Junior quarterback Aidan Moriarty returned from injury and went 20-of-45 for 280 yards passing for Morro Bay (0-3) in the loss.

McClymonds 20, Paso Robles 9

Paso Robles senior running back Julian Madrigal had 17 carries for 49 yards and a touchdown for the Bearcats (0-2), while senior kicker Cade England added a 45-yard field goal.

Mission Prep sophomore Brian Kowall scored three touchdowns in a 50-point Mission Prep first half. Mace Sherlock and Michael LaCasto added two touchdowns each for Mission Prep (2-0).
