Prep roundup: Arroyo Grande boys tennis defeats Santa Barbara in nonleague match

The Arroyo Grande High School boys tennis team defeated Santa Barbara 10-8 in a nonleague match Wednesday. The Eagles secured five sets in both singles and doubles play to earn the win.

No. 1 singles player Greg Hayden swept 6-2, 6-1, 6-1 and won the match-winning 10th point for Arroyo Grande. The Eagles (13-1) play host to Mission Prep on Thursday.


Paso Robles 4, Atascadero 3

Paso Robles senior Mark Armstrong hit what proved to be the game-winning double in the top of the seventh inning in a win over Atascadero. Armstrong finished the game 2-for-4 with 3 RBI.

Atascadero held a 3-1 lead over Paso Robles before the Bearcats scored two runs in the top of the fifth inning to tie the game.

Aiden Kearns pitched two shutout innings for the win and Nolan Binkele earned the save.

Paso Robles (10-3, 7-1 PAC 8) remain one game behind 8-0 Righetti in the league standings. Due to possible rain on Friday, Paso Robles and Atascadero will play Thursday in Paso Robles at 4:30 p.m.
